Is the apple upgrade program worth looking at?
If it's anything like they've explained, it probably is if you want to guarantee you get the new iPhone every year.

I guess it's essentially a rolling, open ended loan for a phone.

They may look unusual now but I suspect in a few years wireless will be standard and anyone with wires will be the ones looking weird.

At the price they're likely to cost you won't lose them. You'll keep putting them in that case.
No, I think they look dumb today and tomorrow. But that doesn't mean I don't think someone else could do something nicer. I hated the battery cover Apple made too, but others did it nicer.

Sony Ericsson was doing this with Bluetooth ten years ago! Sure, this has a few nice touches (sensors to detect when in the ear) but not much more, besides a high price!

I had the Sony Ericsson ones and they were great, but it was another thing to charge. They didn't sell that well as a result.

I've been thinking about getting a new phone as bored with the SE and I think its safe to say it won't be the 7, Apple just doesn't impress any more, and iOS needs a major overhaul,

£719 for the cheapest Plus model, plus you would probably want to buy the headphones.

Expensive really, the cost of iPhones just keeps going up and up.

People complain the Apple don't innovate, then they complain when they do innovate. An earlier post said that Bluetooth didn't have the audio quality of a wired connection. Apple are trying to fix that.

You are confusing Bluetooth with mobile data I think!
I think people complain when the CEO of a company makes a bold statement claiming the next iphone will have things you can't live without, then bringing out a phone that has none of that.

It looks not bad though.

£800 quid for the 256gb model ?. Oh well, looks like i'll never get one

Just had a look at the upgrade programme. They market it with the slogan..."Get a new iPhone every year"! Why on earth would you want to do that?! Doesn't seem like a worthwhile programme to me. All it is a scheme to ensure they have you locked into Apple/IPhones.

Samsung goes this, with a hefty interest rate, and various smallprint that warns you that you may still get charged a lot more if they think the phone hasn't just suffered acceptable wear and tear.

You can imagine the scope for getting ripped off with that clause!

What were you expecting? This...?!

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=p2vN0AYP5EM

The 7 looks pretty innovative to me....not enough to convince me to get one anytime soon, though.
As above. I wasn't expecting anything. I was asking a genuine question.

Well the cost isn't much more than the iPhone + Apple Care I guess, and saves paying out hundreds now and when the iPhone8 comes out, you can either sign up for another 24 months and swap your current phone for the new one or pay the remaining 12 months. I can see the benefits.

128GB 7 Plus costs £30 more than last year. Not bad really when you consider the value of the pound has plummeted and they have put up prices in the US on the same models.

I need a new phone as I stupidly only got the 16gb for my 6. My contract is up so I might upgrade but I'm just feeling so underwhelmed with the 7. I'm just a bit bored of the iPhone now. I like the new Jet Black colour, but I just can picture how grubby it will look with all your finger print marks on it.

I wasn't expecting anything I was asking a genuine question, I wasn't sure if I'd missed anything.
The whole camera thing - fairly significant improvements there.
Stereo speakers.
Better display. (Not sure if they have the True Tone thing from the iPad?)

At the end of the day, in a matured product which does so much its pretty difficult to come up with something groundbreaking that also serves much practical benefit.

They've changed literally everything in iPhone 7 to make it better. If you're bored with it, then maybe you should look for a different smartphone. Personally today's event exceeded my expectations. Apple has smashed it out of the park. It's a no-brainer upgrade for me. They have done an incredible job.

Hahahahahaha. Apple has played catchup as usual.

Name me one unique feature.

Be interesting to see CEX's pricings for this as well. Traditionally they buy them in for more than they actually cost.

Thanks!

Is the camera available on both the 7 and 7 plus?

Does there need to be something unique?

It's alright.

No smashing out the park has been done however.

Finally, some sense.

It's a good phone but to say there's anything truly groundbreaking here, is totally bizarre.

This is an iPhone 6ss.

£919 for the top iPhone 7 plus?! How much is a 256GB memory card for a cheaper non-iPhone? 200GB cards are around £60-70 and 128GB cards as little as £40.

Ouch!

But, admittedly, the phone does look very nice. It should do for that price, which is positively insane.
