Why he thinks he should be involved I don't know, he seems to think all of the One Direction guys owe him something. He exploited 1D just as much as they exploited the opportunity that was presented to them, they owe him nothing.
He can't stand it when anyone moves on and doesn't want him to be running their careers anymore. There's a reason so many of 1D are choosing labels other than Syco, they don't respect their artists and want control over creative process. After 6 years in that band they're probably all desperate to get some creative freedom.
