Freeview HD aerial upgrade??

My present aerial is 25-30 years old. It has 8 elements and at the moment I have no trouble receiving Freeview. Might I need to get a better TV aerial to receive Freeview HD? The transmitter (Wharmton) is only a mile or so from my house in plain sight on a hill.

maybe
the extra com 7 , 8 channels will be on Winter Hill TX
though these really low power but if getting a new aerial you might want to try pointing to this.
if not get com 7 you still might get more channels such as Dave and yesterday , Really and sky news that is if you do not all ready get these.

Do you want the short snappy non-geeky reply or the long winded highly technical reply?

They are both NO by the way

Presumably you do not have a Freeview HD TV or PVR at the moment? If you get perfect SD with good signal strength and quality on all channels then there is absolutely no reason why the HD channels should not be equally as good.

The only reason to change the aerial is if the transmitter it is pointing to transmits the COM7/8 muxes and the frequencies they use are out of band for the aerial. I suspect you receive from the Saddleworth transmitter

which doesn't have COM7/8 so that should not be an issue.
