well i have been listening to the song all week and can say it has definitely grown on me! which is what seems to happen with all Gaga's songs. i am not sure this will be a hit for her though, but i suppose we will have to wait till the videos out and the song gets playlisted on radio.
to be honest i am disappointed by alot of artists this past year, Britneys Glory album is pretty poo aside from a handful of songs, and 'make me' was just an awful choice of lead single. Beyonce's Lemonade whilst having done reasonably well has got really boring for me already, i still listen to her previous album before that and enjoy it far more. i am starting to think that music is just starting to become dull and uninspired all round ![]() It just seems all the fun has been sucked out of it by the major stars like RiRi and Beyoncé who are sacrificing pop gems for critical acclaim. It's kind of reassuring that GaGa seems to be sticking more or less to her pop roots if Perfect Illusion is anything to go by, and for that I am thankful for. |

Well, I love Perfect Illusion and pretty much all the music critics think it's great so I'm satisfied. People who want more Paparazzis and Poker Faces will inevitably be disappointed by her new direction. She's moved on, you should too.

i have no doubt that this will be her worst performing debut era song though, which isnt surprising as this is one of her weakest songs full stop. |

So not enough people are streaming it. So my point stands.
Though this is her weakest single yet so I expected it to flop somewhat |

She's still hugely successful even if she didn't get a top 10. I'm sure she's not sitting at home crying, let's put it that way.
Album sales are more important, especially to the record companies. |

Album sales are more important, especially to the record companies. The excuse will then be...'she sells out on her tour, that's whats really important'. IMO...Gaga has been on the down since she has hyped herself up. Examples of forcing herself to being a gay legend after 1 album...we will decide who is a legend Felicia.and also having hyped up her third record (Artpop) so much that it turned out to be a total disaster in comparison to her second album. Her label are clearly cautious going in from now as PI has FLOPPED. I always say that week one isn't important for an artist when you should be worried where the album/single is after week 3 or 4. Week 3 = i predict PI will be out of the top 40 in the UK (its 36 on itunes and is 40 on todays spotify charts). |

If she doesn't have any more success i'm sure she's set for life in terms of money etc. Gaga has never really appealed to the mainstream - she has a pretty good core fanbase who will continue to support her no matter what. I;m sure most people would be happy with that. |

In terms of what you're saying about the LGBT stuff - I think she has used her fame countless times to raise awareness to LGBT issues (Dont Ask, Dont Tell, Gay Teen Suicides, LGBT bullying, Equality). I will never understand why members of the LGBT community attack her and other so called "straight allies" for this. Another example of someone who gets a lot of crap for being an ally is Nick Jonas. Surely highlighting these issues in order to try and help people and raise awareness is a good thing?
Parts of the LGBT community are extremely hateful and toxic to others, which is ridiculous to me because they expect to be treated with respect, kindness and understanding but will quickly hate others - treat others as you would like to be treated and be grateful there are straight people out there who want to bring understanding and educate people on the issues LGBT people face - and I say that as someone who is a part, but sometimes feels different from that community. |

I;m sure most people would be happy with that. Her first album was actually amazing and current and set the trend for many in the industry. I miss the RedOne influence! There is no denial that without his influence, her career hasn't been to that level. |

I didn't say she hasn't done wonderful things for the gay community but she had a career for 4 years and then declared her icon status. I'm sorry but you will have to work years to be a icon in my eyes (and I don't mean helping the lgbt community). |

Lady Gaga is flopping absolutely everywhere (I wouldnt even call it flopping its worse) it has fell to number 132 on France I tunes. It is out of the top 40 in a lot of markets. I know its a dud lead single but I didnt expect to be this bad. Its also doing crap on Spotify everywhere. This is definately one of the worst performing lead singles by a 'major' pop singer in a long time. And the album is coming out in 5 weeks...it is a horrificaly bad start to an album campaign. There seems to be 0 interst at all. She was even doing fairly average when Applause was released but this is tanking..I expected a huge comeback like Justin Bieber but this is horrific

By the numbers garbage.
Probably started from "I like the this phrase", "What phrase"? "Perfect Illusion" "That might work". Well it doesn't. It's rubbish. Typical nonsense from an "artist" that thinks all they touches turns to gold. As for the uplifting / awful key change.... dear me ..... Not worth the studio time. Total arse. |

She said in an interview recently that it was a joint agreement between her and her management, what were they thinking? The lead single is meant to be the most GP friendly, accessible, commercial song on the album. This was a bad move. If the is the most commercial song on the album, they may scrap it. They shouldnt have released the release date so they could delay it without anyone knowing it. Coincidentally, Poker Face just came on the radio as im typing. Thats a proper single.

I feel people are extra critical on Gaga for some reason. I think from day one people want to see her fail, I'm not sure why, maybe it's the crazy outfits or something.
But with artists like Beyonce, Rihanna etc- they too have put out some crap stuff. Rihanna had a song this year (Sledgehammer) which had zero impact. Admittedly she had Work which was successful, but we all know deep down that song is utter cr ap and isn't exactly creative. Quote:

People tired of Gaga simply because she's too self indulgent and pretentious and the music she releases is basic and doesn't back up her artistic claims. There's nothing wrong with her music at all but it is what it is. Lemonade and ANTI are more artistic than Artpop imo. |
