Lush Life is a fantastic pop song, but I'd be very hesitant to call her the best around, especially with the likes of Dua Lipa, MO, Sia, Tove Lo etc. making consistently good pop music at the moment - before even tapping into the huge female pop singers.
In terms of other genres, there's always a case for Christine and the Queens, Lauren Mayberry (Chvrches), Florence, Lana del Rey and more. |

No I think you'll find that accolade belongs to either Lissie or the goddess that is Florence Welch.
And certainly not this Zara Larsson tool. We had similar to her in the early 90's in Whigfield (I take it you think she's a genius too?). As far as I'm concerned Zara Larsson is the Aldi Rihanna. I can't stand Rihanna at the best of times and an Aryan version of Rihanna is surely just a cheap marketing ploy? Personally I am fed up of all this Scandanavian pop trash (Yes Lukaz Graham that includes you) clogging up our charts. I wonder if once we are out of the EU we will stop being subjected to this aural torture? Hopefully Miss Larsson will find her rightful career path (working at Costa Coffee perhaps?) and leave the singing business to real superstars like Flo Welch. |

No. Adele, Beyoncé, Julia Holter, P!nk, Alicia Keys, Carrie Underwood are better......to name but a few.

I really like Zara, all of her singles are catchy, and in the case of Lush Life, quite quirky and a breath of fresh air compared to the rest of the chart. I personally prefer her to the likes of Adele, but then that's my opinion.

I loved Lush life and Girls like but do not like the Euro 2016 single.
I also love whoever said the Aldi Rihanna ![]() as far as I'm aware she does not use her voice like that live |

I don't like her new song....she sounds even more "Rihanna-lite" with the faux hiphop sound. She should stick to pure pop.

I never really took much notice of Zara until I saw her live at V fest and loved her set. Didn't realise how many great songs she's had out already. She was singing live and to be honest a lot better than I expected from a 'pop princess'.
She's outspoken and could get herself in some trouble for having an opinion but way more interesting then singers so media trained they appear to have no personality. I've heard some of the new tracks from the album and it looks like it's going to be a good one! |

I would argue Elin Larsson of the rock band Blues Pills (who I *think* read somewhere is Zara's older sister but now can't find any confirmation of that) is honestly the best singer of the modern era.
Really evokes Janis Joplin and Anetha Franklin bit brings a lot to the table and often puts a lot of emotion behind her lyrics which adds a nice depth to the music. ...also her voice sounds absolutely amazing so that helps. |

A very precocious question! Considering her first hit single was basically glorifying sleeping around and not being there when morning comes I think she'll need a great deal more class to even come close.

What I've heard of her, she seems to have a pretty good voice.Think she may have blown it as a long term success though.Too tied up with this EDM / Swedish pop / Max Martin thing which is becoming mindnumbingly tiresome to listen to IMO.Listeners are bound to get tired of it soon. You could have said that 10 years ago, but the formula still seems to be getting traction.Surely they'll have sucked it dry soon though.
The Rhianna take off thing cheapens her as well.Sia got away with it because her Rhianna take off (Cheap Thrills) song was only ment to be a songwriting credit on a Rhianna song which had a little bit of 'tongue in cheek' credibility, exposing plastic pop / co-writing / formulaic production. |

No competition, she doesn't even come close. Awful Rihanna sound alike.

None of the other pop singers you mentioned are even that good. Grimes is making the best pop music in the world and is so far ahead of any of those you mentioned. Also they aren't making their music, they are not musicians. They are singers. Unlike Grimes who is the only name on her records. EDM is dying, it's on it's knees. Nobody is getting excited about Dua Lipa releasing an album (if she ever does). |
