Grant

Anybody else feel that Grant now lacks that intimidation factor which was his trademark. It's like he's trying too hard now and it looks forced, swinging the bat at the 4 murderers didn't look remotely intimidating. Infact even his son did better on that front.

But still it's good to have him back he does add to the show.

I think he could be intimidating again if they had the time to redevelop the character but they don't.

He has said that he doubts that Grant will ever return so I think they might kill him off. I actually think that they should kill him off now and have him go out with a bang in true Mitchell style.

He's far more intimidating than Phil. You just have to look at him to know that he could beat the average man or two to a pulp.

A character that is best left in the past. Just find him pathetic.

I just can't see them killing him off unless Ross tells them he wants that which I don't think he will. He has said that he's getting too old to be running around dodging bullets. I think within the next 3 or 4 years he'll stop making documentaries which I'll be sad to see because I actually like them
That doesn't mean he'll be returning to EE full time because i don't see that ever happening but longer stints could be an option.

I agree, if Ross Kemp returned for a longer stint then this would give the writers the time required to re-develop his character. His last stint for instance in 2006, Grant had supposed to have mellowed and was calmer but that stint was for 4 months so the writers had the time to explain this, although we saw the old Grant briefly re-surface every now and again.

In this stint, because he is only back for just 3 weeks, it doesn't really give the writers enough time to delve too deeply into the character. Although I'm amazed that EE haven't given both Grant and Phil a two hander episode with just the both of them together or maybe just Grant and Sharon. This could have shed more light on what Grant is up to these days.

I hope Ross Kemp does return again one day. He said in an interview with Total TV Guide back in May that if he could somehow juggle both Extreme World and EastEnders full time then he would seriously consider it, so you never know if there is a gap in his schedule he may well return to EE again. But I hope if he does he returns for a longer stint. These 3 week stints, as great as they are, just aren't long enough really.

I think ross is 54 and it takes a lot out of him doing his docs especially since it takes about a year in total. Doing both would be very difficult. Like I said in my post, I'd say 3 or 4 years and he'll stop. Grant is my favourite character and I'd love to see him in EE longer. I also like ross. I've read comments about him being smug and arrogant but people that have actualy met him and those that know him describe a completely different person. I choose to believe them.

Yea I agree me too. Ross always come across as being such a nice guy when being interviewed either on TV or by the press. Like you, Grant is also my favourite EE character of all time. Having just read the interview he has done with Digital Spy, I'm quite gutted he doesn't plan to return to EE again. He kind of said this last time though when he left in 2006 but he kind of left the door open saying never say never.

As you say should Ross slow down with his documentary work he may be persuaded back for longer stints in 4-5 years time. Until then though it sadly seems unlikely he will be returning, unless of course the new producer Sean O'Connor wants him back again.

Both your ideas are better than the cartoonish nonsense EE are serving up for him.
