......I think I have good rhythm and I sense that Ed was dancing behind the beat for his QS. However, it is a dance with a LOT of steps to fit in, so, as he is a beginner at every dance he does and the very nature of the dance, I can overlook that......
Hmmm, not sure. He may have been just keeping up with Katya perhaps. Some of those turning scatter chasses are challenging. Turn and speed are difficult to handle..

I think I need an Ed win to add some lightness after recent political events.

I'm not sure about this salsa. Salsa is not my favourite dance at the best of times, and I'm worried this may be a comedy step too far!

each week Ed is getting more and more control over his movements- his "dad" dancing is getting less and less. I'm loving it.

Anyone else get the impression he's topping the public vote? I'm just starting to wonder

I actually think that with the exception of Danny the underdogs (Judge Rinder, Greg and Ed imo) could well be doing the best in the voting.

I like his enthusiasm and hope he goes at least near to the final.

This couple make me cry - but in the best possible way. Just loving them. Great routine, some bits of fancy footwork (overlooked methinks).

Those lifts were SPLENDID!

I think any other partner would be wasted on Katya - fan-bloody-tastic.

I dont "connect" with Danny as a personality or as a dancer in any way, so I cant know if he's popular or not

Wow! It didn't blow me away as much as I desired, but I loved it nonetheless. Katya is so beautiful and clearly loving her time performing with Ed. Amazing trust between them for the lifts in the salsa. Ed fumbled the beginning of the first one but no problems with the other two and that final one, a whole sequence, was breathtaking. My favourite bit was the side waddle, which I presume is particular to Gagnam style. Ed reminds me of a lesser Mark Benton. The latter was better at movement and performance but Ed is fitter. Ed has lost so much weight.

May I add that I enjoyed Ed's breathlessness after the dance and in the Clauditorium. Also loved his continuing the dance running up the stairs.

just loved this routine...what a mix of comedy/dance/dad-dance/risque lifts and just fab choreography from the wonderful katya.
A four from craig???!!! bloody hell it was worth double that for entertainment value alone!!

I intermittently have that problem with Danny too (loved his AT though) but I'm going on the young / good looking / male / can dance combination that usually does very well on this show. I don't think he's captured people's hearts in the same way Ed has though.

Wow, more fun from Katya and Ed! Katya cannot stop surprising me with her inventive choreography. I have a feeling Neil helps her but it doesn't matter. What matters is that each routine is not some comedy act peppered with generic "dance" moves: it has distinctive elements of their assigned dance. Ed is so lucky to have Katya! I am not sure any other professional would have been able to design so many fresh routines and be patient enough to teach a person with no experience of Ballroom/Latin dancing. Katya is always a joy to watch: she is a gorgeous dancer; but Ed is not "chopped liver" either.

Katya is amazing, Ed is great and those lifts were wow. This is an entertainment show, yes I love the likes of Danny, Daisy and Claudia but I also have really enjoyed Ed's performances. He is improving and clearly enjoying himself, I hope he gets to go to Blackpool.

Ed's dances will be in the history books as the most memorable ones.

I agree
with both of you. Katya, and perhaps Neil, are the main ingredient in Ed's success. A pro who was less engaged and/or creative in their choreography would have sealed Ed's departure weeks ago. Then you a wonderful working partnership between Ed and Katya with no hint of a Strictly curse and ... Ooh, aah, ooh, aah ...

No idea what Salsa is, so I went hunting on YouTube and found some teaching vids. For all of those who ask "Where was the salsa content?" Did you actually watch it.? I would wager that might have been (but for the Ganganam parts) more authentic than many I've seen on Strictly.

Ed and Katya----Salsa. To Gangnam Style.

Class. Absolute class.
Sheer total exuberance and enjoyment in one very entertaining dance.
Well done Ed.

Just to say about pure salsa step sequences, they were there. Perhaps not executed to perfection by Mr Balls but he put his heart and soul into the whole dance.

I am still smiling😊

We made the baby cry today with our enthusiasm! Hubby and I were cheering Ed on so loudly, the poor bub got really scared and started bawling
I absolutely loved the side-to-side steps; he was so fluid in those! Great dance, and I really hope it will see him through to Blackpool!

Yes, there was definitely salsa content. I think some people find it hard to look past the song choice and theme. I'm not saying Ed's technique was perfect but Katya certainly put some salsa in there.

So good to hear from others about the dance content in Ed's salsa. I've just watched their party Latins again - samba, cha cha cha and salsa - fantastic experiences. Sadly Ed has only two Latin dances remaining, jive and rumba. I hope he can deliver a jive to Great Balls of Fire. The rumba will be dodgy and might be his Achilles but may he stay long enough for me/us to see how he fares! Next week he will probably get a standard number for Blackpool, if he is returning. I hope it's the VW.

Or the fact that it is Ed Balls.
It is Ed Balls, so it has to be effluent.
No it doesn't and no it wasn't

I would like to see him do a nice classy ballroom number at Blackpool to really do the venue justice. He's very capable of doing a good ballroom routine.

True!
