He appeared in utter shock when Claudia said he would be descending to the floor to Great Balls of Fire. I wasn't sure whether he was kidding at first but I think it actually might have been the first he'd heard of it

So pleased that Ed and Katya made it through to Blackpool.
Great Balls of fire music was used by Harry and Aliona as their show dance and I didn't like the lifts at all.
I just noticed that Ed Salsa has similar lift sequences .......Ed rolls Katya down his body then pulls her up from the floor around his back. Shock horror, Ed's is better (imo) 1.37

Thanks for this. Ed's better. Hope Aliona won't be claiming a trademark for this sequence as she did for the hand across eyes in Ore's jive ...

For a drummer, not very good drumming really SOZ.

However, he was a dark horse and I like dark horses and underdogs.

What does SOZ mean? I never cared for Harry but even less, Aliona. The sequence was better in Ed's salsa because Ed is a middle aged fat man, who is defying critics and getting better and leaner. Also, Katya is a goddess.

I do believe it means sorry. Rather ashamed I used it really. In my lazy attempt to cut down on typing, I've just had to do a whole lot more

BiB - YES

First of all, I'm ecstatic that Ed and Katya got through and I'm sorry I doubted their last routine. I do not have a sufficient command of superlatives for them. I've lost count of the number of times I've watched it, I'm awe of them.

Now, I'm worried about Ed's Jive. I really hope that Katya's inventiveness is like a bottomless well. Really, really want them not just to do well at Blackpool, but win!

Oh I see. Learn something new every day

Jive is THE dance of Katya and her husband Neil. This will not be a send of or finale. This will be fire that say 'I'm here and I'm staying'. Katya and Neil are bottomless in imagination, from what we've seen and Ed and Katya are an amazing couple.

I'm such a sad person - I've just watched all of their dances (and bookmarked them) and they make me weep with joy. When I'm feeling sad I shall just head for some medicine from Ed and Katya

Over 250,000 views can't be bad! Did you see the end of Len's Lens .....the judges reaction when Ed jumps forward over a Katya limbo move. That to me was fantastic...the timing ....the faces sof the judges and and audiences ...shock horror and admiration .....classic 23.53 ish

I can just see them at home, Katya marking out the choreography and Neil playing the part of Ed. . I do agree that this is Katya's dance. With Ed's sense of rhythm, Katya's choreo, Blackpool floor and that great song.....well it's got to be good hasn't it?

My thoughts exactly. I hope that they down to the business of jiving as soon as Ed hits the floor, so-to-speak and not literally! From previous dances they have focused on dancing.

I'm loving the idea of Neil playing Ed's role in practises at home! He's an unassuming man is Neil. He never hogs camera attention or pushes forward when his wife reruns from dancing. I wish we could see more of him and them as a couple. Perhaps next year.

I thought Ed was due for a ballroom dance next week. Never mind, I shall look forward to their jive.

I wish people on the main board would stop referring to him as a comedy person. He was a non-dancer, like Robert and Greg, I think, who has learned and improved and dances well and entertains.

Just queried on the MF the possibility of Ed playing a quick Jerry Lee intro on the piano after he's descended from up above - or indeed whilst he's descending.. If they're going to the trouble and expense of hoisting a bloody piano around, surely they'll make appropriate use of the prop? He can play a bit, after all.

Someone kindly uploaded last night's results show on YT so I was able to watch events. Ed seemed genuinely surprised about the spectacle they have planned for him in Blackpool and I'm not sure he's keen.

Also the judges watching Katya's drop during the salsa Bruno really did not want to watch but was compelled. Craig seemed unmoved by the moment whereas Darcey and Len were shocked and laughing.
