Like Iveta ... even more do Ed and Katya remind me of Mark and Iveta
Ha! Said the same thing on Twitter yesterday - he's like a fitter version of Mark and doing even more mental routines.

I do feel like Zoe was talking as if Blackpool would be Ed & Katya's swansong - and the fact they're giving him a Russell Grant / Judy Murray type moment in his routine further suggests to me they're signalling to viewers that Ed should go.

I'm quite superstitious so I don't want to say too much but I think Ed & Katya's dance/theme/song choice this week will be a winning combination in terms of getting votes. I think they could possibly be in trouble next week once the magic of Blackpool has worn off, although I'll continue to refer to him as the wildcard as I really believe anything can happen with Ed this year

Someone told me once that I'd be psychic were I not so rational! With this in mind, after the jive, which I think will see Ed through to the next week, he has a run of dances that will be difficult to toy with. I would say his best combo after his jive is tango followed by AT. Think he could quite a good tango and then AT would offer opportunity for spectacle. The rumba will be their death knell.

A Shrek inspired rumba would doit!

Maggie - as to which of the Latin Dances did I like the most,

1: I liked the Samba, except that he was a bit camp and ponderous.
2: I liked the Cha Cha, because it demonstrated to them both that Ed COULD dance after all.
3: I loved the Salsa because they consolidated on the Cha Cha and went for something even more demanding - and succeeded.

However - the QS shows this man really can dance.

Finally - I have to watch their Salsa many times a day, with a few viewings of the others, from time to time, because their dancing brings me such joy.

Hrmm, not so sure about your rumba theme ...

So basically you think his Latin has improved. I can see the improvement between the samba I love and his cha cha cha. But between cha cha cha and salsa ... not so sure.

I've been unwell this week and with time on my hands have been on and off YT watching Ed and Katya. Love them!

I will agree that the improvement between the Cha Cha and Salsa was incremental, whereas the Samba to Cha Cha was a big leap

Rumba - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v4tYJdDj3_8

Even the music, would be great especially as a tribute to the great LC and an antidote to the awful spectacle of last Sunday.

BTW - sorry you have been poorly this week. I was last week, so spent too much time on here really (and watching Ed and Katya - sighs)

Get well soon and be ready for a beach party!

Thanks Peter... I'm on the mend now and assume you are too. Unfortunately for E&K Hallelujiah was used for one of Louise's dances. What about if they went raunchy? PJ Harvey, for example?

ooh, I can see where you're coming from with this as a choice for a rumba. I think they're brilliant at telling a story so I'd go for this song, could do a good story to it I think

Bouzouki Boy, I've also been rewatching all of the previous latins, and I agree completely with you. If we can keep Ed in until the end, he'll improve even more, plus drop another stone in weight, and that'll make his dancing even better.

We saw very little of the jive training on ITT tonight. Ed's lightness on his feet is going to make this a great dance. I'm hoping they'll do a "drunken sailors" move

DIDN'T SEE THE CLIP...what did Ian Waite think of it?
Anyway, there needs to be jive content after the opening sequence, however that works out! The gangnam salsa was fabulously watchable (3 million facebook views is that right? ).....but the the critics/moaners said not enough 'salsa'. There needs to be some jive moves in there! Trust in katya!!

just had to rewatch the clip to remember........

Ian said that at this stage it was a bit ploddy in places, but that was usual for Ed at this point of the training, and that he thought it would improve.

He thought there was some lovely jive content, drunken sailors a hip bump, and spanish arms with a double

Ian then went on to show Zoe how to do these moves

Just got back from The Wintergardens in Blackpool. We heard raucous laughter from one of the bar areas, turned around to see Katya giggling at Ed practising his jive solo. They then, with Neil moved on to watch the finals taking place. All three looked as though they were having a great time.

Thanks for the anecdote Jennifer. It confirms what we see, namely that Ed and Katya get along really well. My fingers are crossed for them with their jive tonight.

Voted...but I have to say that after last week it was a bit of an anticlimax. He didn't do a lot wrong and was undermarked again.....but just not as 'wow' as other dances they have done. I just expeced a bit more. MAYBE THEY ARE IN TROUBLE...agree??

. I would have given them 10 because it was such a joyful dance, wonderful to watch.

And it was a good jive.

Those judges should see what I see when I watch them.

there were few mistakes..and they were undermarked. But after last week there were just fewer 'wow' moments...not sure the piano and the extra dancers did anything to help, either.

Trouble is the bar has been set so high - last time I looked the salsa was not too far off half a million views on youtube - it's just not possible to equal or exceed that every week, and it's hardly reasonable to expect it, either. The jive was always going to be tough for Ed, but I thought he made a valiant effort and, if anything, the backing dancers got in the way. It would have looked a lot better on a more intimate floor, too - Blackpool's just too big. It still had that feelgood factor, though - and Katya's routine was, as ever, bloody clever.

I think they'll be OK this week.

good comments, I hope you're right

I think the only other celebs I can think of who were rubbish to start with and who improved exponentially during the series were Darren Gough series 3 and Matt Dawson series 4, hope we can add Ed to the list

You are right of course...they can't choose which dances and when and know how they are going to go down with the public. Had they done them the other way around my guess is he would be winning more votes than danny will tonight! Sadly I don't see that being the case tonight....
