Very pleased that Ed lives for another week at least. Think tango is one of the better choices from his remaining dances. Katya can inject drama and/or character into it.

WELL DONE everyone!!

DA was at the back of the head - hair combed in from each side, giving a dividing line down the centre - then if possible a little curl up below.
US description in Wiki http://https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duck's_ass
But in UK it was widely adopted by Teddie Boys.
Ha! Talking at cross purposes. I didn't see if he had a DA just that his little patch at the front was quiffed.

It was definitely combed to the back with a parting, just like the pictures on the wiki site. Genuine DA!

I was disappointed for Ed and Katya, because they actually did a really good jive. All the pros and other contestants were stood looking at them going, 'It's really good!' His action was really good, but I think the judges need to go and have some lessons or something because it sometimes seems like they're searching for things to say and they're not saying the right things. But Ed did a very competent jive, and in fact I'd almost go as far as saying it was probably one of the better actions of the jive that we've seen so far! Yet 10s have been handed out for jives before and his got 4s. It was still bottom of the table - I'm not saying he deserved high, high marks - but you've got to praise people for what they achieve. And I don't think that was particularly praised last night enough.

Ed and Katya are working hard - one week they'll be characters like 'Gangnam Style' last week, and the next week they try and do a really good dance and it sort of backfires on them. The judges are definitely going down that 'character' route, but I think if somebody's achieved something, it should be recognised because it has a big impact on the next week, especially for the pros.

Let's say Katya's been working hard on teaching him to do a good action and he's doing it and she's praising him, and then they get out there and the judges are not giving it the right sort of praise, it's going to be quite disheartening for them and in turn then people start losing trust in their pros. That happens quite a lot on Strictly - I certainly don't think it would happen with Ed and Katya because they seem like they've got a really good relationship, but it can be a bit of a pain.

Still, I'm predicting that Ed can make it to the final - if they keep continuing to be better there's no reason why they can't because it's about starting at a certain point and improving week upon week, which some are doing and some aren't. Some are going backwards week upon week and some are going forwards, and he's actually going forward, so there's no reason why he shouldn't be there at the end.

Aw....Brendan's a sweetheart! I do agree that they worked hard on that jive and those flicks are difficult to do; I know from experience.

And I agree that Greg (and Natalie) spoke up well for Ed.

Maybe she will - bet she could pull off the moves. Perhaps Ed's always wanted to be Keef and he'll have a Telecaster as a prop with a spliff wedged into the neck.

Please TPTB make this happen! I want both in velvet suits with large psychedelic ties too. Katya can wear a long skirt-cum-trousers.

Flower power culottes and a shaggy Afghan waistcoat a la Sonny & Cher. She'd make a good Cher c1965 lookalike (oh I remember it well!)

I was thinking more along the lines of Grace Slick, or something like this http://theredlist.com/media/database...theredlist.png

I wasn't being totally serious! Whatever, I'm sure make up & costume will go for the sixties look in a big way - just hope they don't wheel out a wig for Ed.

Grace Slick - what a voice. Shame she sort of disappeared down that rabbit hole so soon only to pop her head up for air once a decade or so!

It was class of Greg to speak up for Ed last night. He didn't have to say what he did. Shall pop across to his App. Thread and say so too!
As for Brendan...he's right. I've watched the jive again and there ARE some decent moves from Ed, a guy with no dance expereience whatsoever. And,HE'S RIGHT ABOUT CRAIG GIVING A 4 TO THE LAST 2 DANCES, when one was a fabulous 'character' dance and the other a recognisable jive.
Maybe the fact/truth is they want E&K gone anyway, to clear the way for their pet dancers at the top of the board....

I think if you were supporting one of the more accomplished celebs, at this stage of the competition you might be justified in feeling a bit peeved if you were handed this for a tango, but from Ed & Katya's point of view, it's way more suitable for another character driven performance which, after all, is what's got them this far in the comp. It's certainly not totally unsuitable for a tango, and married with a '60's vibe, I'm pretty hopeful.

Go Ed!

I think it is danceable but I think the music means there won't be much finesse or nuance. They will just storm it.

Somehow I think Katya will choreograph a great routine to it. May not be an obvious song choice for Tango but it is certainly a song that gives great scope for entertainment.

Looking forward to it and hope this isn't Ed's last week as he is definitely one of the Big and probably the most unexpected stars of Strictly this year.

There is the little question of the initiation ceremony. You might have to sit on the subs bench for a while before full access to the sofa is granted. Full access might also depend on free movement too and acceptance of all the rules plus £350M/week in used notes to be divided amongst us all.

Otherwise - welcome, nice to see you, to see you.......

Yes of course. We might let you off the initiation ceremony as Ed and Katya may be on borrowed time now! (Although hopefully not.)

I think it would've been really nice to see Ed dance a Tango to some traditional music just to show he can do things the conventional way (which I believe he's good enough to do). I mean in terms of entertainment value we peaked with the Gangnam Salsa so nothing's going to live up to that let alone top it. A trad Tango would be a chance to make viewers sit up and take notice for a different reason (and silence his naysays who insist on calling him the joke act that can't really dance). I suppose it would be the ultimate risk.

Sorry, one day I'll pop into the App Thread with a slightly more positive outlook! I am still looking forward to seeing what they do with this music. I just can't help wondering "what if" sometimes.
