The voting has closed (at 20.35 tonight)
Voted online, couldn't get through by phone. This was the first time in a long time I've tried the phone, but really wanted to rather pathetically bolster the vote.

I wonder if Darcey's words in the media could have influenced voting?

I tried to register online as soon as I'd watched first two dances and had to go out for an hour!
I persisted and couldn't so tried to find phone numbers at home page and didn't show them !
I did try to vote early ! Hadn't realised the time slot but was in it when I tried doing Judge To fees and Danny Mac vote for ads but not Ed's ! still can but wait and see!
Fancy it may be Ed and the judge next ! Sadly ! Claudia liked out all the stops with her gymnastic ability so cant see her in the bottom two again ! Well see!

The most emotional goodbye for me across all the series I've watched. I cried and I will miss him and Katya. Really nice words of goodbye from Danny, Rob and Louise. Rob called Ed authentic. Not many ex-politicians deserving of such a word.

Just wanted say Ed/Katya have been fabulous, their partnership was lovely, fun and genuine. I will miss them, they have entertained me and Katya has been such an amazing pro and teacher. Their goodbyes were so emotional, you can tell they loved working together and they will be one of the most memorable partnerships in scd history

Brilliant exit from the show. I loved the way Craig dropped the judge act and acknowledged what Ed and Katya have brought to this year

He's gone!

:

So has Katya!
BTW, just in case you decide to take a bit of a sabbatical, meant to say good luck for your exams next year.

I'll get back to feeling emotional now, if I may. Best exit from Strictly I can ever remember - such a very genuine bond between the two of them, and Katya really set me off. Bless her.

I really have enjoyed watching them more than any other couple at any time over the years.

Some nice posts in http://forums.digitalspy.co.uk/showthread.php?t=2191256

These two are right up there with my favourite SCD couple, Gavin & Katya Fantastic partnership & an unlikely friendship that will go on for many years I'm sure. Ed wanted to learn & do his best for his loved ones & for Katya. As for Katya, what a marvellous addition she has been to the show. The way a dancer on this show handles a "duffer" can be the the making of them. Hopefully, Katya will be rewarded next series. Thanks to team glitterballs for the wonderful memories ❤️

So sad to see these two go out. Such genuine emotion they both had for one another at the end. You could tell Katya's words came straight from the heart. I feel like I should say a big thank you to both of them for all the much needed smiles they have provided me with over the last couple of months. It's been a joy watching them.

Me too. I doubt I will watch the rest. TBH, most series have been MEH for me for quite some time, but Ed and Katya brought the programme back to life for me. So it is woodchip and magnolia from now on. I wonder if the ratings will dip now.

It has been a pleasure sharing this place with you all,

Au revoir.

Oh I can but dream now what an Ed and Katya showdance would have been like. I'm really going to miss them. One of my favourite all time Strictly couples.
I posted in another thread that their goodbye music should have been "The Party's Over" by Nat King Cole. That's what it feels like now they're gone. ITT is going to be very emotional.

By the way, in the Cha Cha challenge did anyone notice that when the couples were told to switch positions from one side of the ballroom to the other, Ed spun Katya across the floor rather than just moving across? I thought that was great and showed he has musicality. He finished the cha cha dance off beautifully too as they walked to the stage.

I'm finding the pro dances meh and concur with wood chip and magnolia for the remaining contestants bar Rob and Ore. We will hopefully see the wonderful Katya next year.

It's been nice having your contributions Pete and I've enjoyed the regulars of the thread plus those who pop in.

So sad to see you Ed go ,,, From doing no dancing in the past, you definately improved and that's what SCD is about or should be, not those who are good and can dance from the beginning. Well done Ed, you gave it your all.

I have found the series a bit 'meh' as well but I always knew I wouldn't find it as good without the brilliant TeamGG, that drew me in so much last year BUT along came the brilliant Ed Balls and the fabulous Katya and they made me love the show again.

I just keep thinking about all the dances he didn't get to do

Why British public? WHY?

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...ctly-tour.html Ed Balls decided to treat fans to a glimpse of what could have been, had he survived the quarter finals of the BBC dance competition.
The 49-year-old posted a video of the routine he had planned to showcase next weekend. In his kitchen, Ed worked his best rumba moves to Shirley Bassey's track This Is My Life.

Oh, now I'm even more gutted

I'm with this Twitter poster - another person proposed: 'You need to film a dance each week and put it online... We need our fix of "Edness!"'

What a fabulous idea. Or, even better, can't Ed and Katya just carry on being on Strictly anyway? I mean they don't need to get scored, be on the leader board or voted for. Just let them do their dance every week at the end of the show
