![]() https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-r...than-freedland In all the political obituaries that were written back then, few described Balls as popular – and no one called him a national treasure. And yet when Balls was finally ejected from the BBC’s wildly popular Strictly Come Dancing last weekend, the wave of affection was unmistakable He really wanted to learn to dance and to become better. Nothing pleased him more than when the judges praised his “dance content”. |

I think it shows that life should be an adventure, even if the adventures seem sometimes quite small at first. When Judge Rinder said that everyone should take up dancing he was absolutely right. It's enabled Ed to show a new side to himself.
And wasn't Katya superb tonight in the pro dance? |

And wasn't Katya superb tonight in the pro dance? All research points to dancing as an advantage for many things in life including ageing and the geriatric years! |

The whole show this weekend has felt flat without them. It has made me appreciate even more just how much of this series entertainment and joy has been down to the two of them.

I thought about commenting here on Katya, glad you did. Yes she was superb. She's such an elegant dancer, quick and fluid with amazing legs.

Absolutely. I've helped out at dance classes for early stage dementia patients (ballet, not ballroom) and they really have a very positive effect.

I agree with all the above. This week's show was flat without them, although having Katya as lead in the superb Chicago dance made up for it somewhat.
Some of my favourite SCD dances are Ed and Katya's. I loved their Laurel and Hardy quickstep, the Halloween mad professor cha cha and of course the Gangnam style salsa. They've made the series for me. It will be interesting to see who Katya gets next year. I hope she gets someone who tries their best and she has good rapport with, like she did with Ed. I'd love her to win. |

Just seen Ed doing a bit of the rumba he would have done to Shirley Bassey's "This Is My Life" this week if he hadn't got voted off. Why have we deprived of this, why?

Interesting mathematical discussion/analysis on Radio4's numbers programme "More or Less" on whether or not Ed got more votes on Strictly than he did as an MP.
Starts 7:40 in: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b084dqpr Spoiler alert- they don't get any more figures out of the show than anyone else ever has...

I'm really looking forward to that part in the final where all the eliminated contestants come back in order in a group dance all doing their "signature move". I wonder if Ed and Katya will do Gangnam style? I bet they get a big reception!
I'm looking forward to this more than anything else! |

Ed and Katya will forever be one of the most entertaining couples of Strictly, I loved them.
