Well hello again! I rather thought from your cryptic comment on another thread that Ed Balls was anathema to you. Seems I was wrong.

Ed will not be John Sergeant in the sense that he's willing to work hard and slog it out. Also, Katya is no Kristina. She would not tolerate such nonsense! But yes, in terms of left-field (pardon the pun) popularity, I hope Ed snares it and remains a good while longer. I've watched their dance back many times today and him being where he should be and at pace each and every time is breathtaking! No wonder Katya was happy. She looked adorable with her hair up and deep red lipstick. I'd like Ed to do either a latin next week or a foxtrot AS.
I never bought in to the notion that Sergeant did nowt in training other than read his newspaper - he lost WAY too much weight not to have been putting in a shift. Whatever, it was his longevity in the show that I hope Ed can replicate - there seem to be so many contenders this year that I'm hoping a fair few may fall by the wayside by default leaving an honest to goodness, fun contestant to sneak through on the rails.

I've rewatched his Charleston, too - and yes, he is bang on time throughout. I guess he must possess a fair degree of musicality and timing otherwise he'd still be playing piano with his two index fingers (about as far as I ever got!)

I'm a lifelong Labour voter, by the way.

Many of whom hated the Bliarite government of which Ed and Yvette were members ... So I wouldn't have presumed where your loyalties lie.

Perhaps John S tried in the early weeks but then became complacent -? We'll never know.

Loved Katya's reaction to being voted through next week.

Well done Ed & to Katya for getting him there. She was so excited when they got through.

Well done to Katya on some great choreography and well done to Ed in dancing it with enthusiasm and on time!
They have outside choreographers for the Charleston and also the Salsa ( except for Janette as far as I know as Salsa is her dance). Because those two dances aren't on the ballroom circuit.

Any clues to what Ed and Katya are doing this week. I'm torn between a safe ballroom (which might take him back to the nice but sedate start that he had) or an outrageous latin (Jive would be good).

Ah ok. Well she did a great job getting him to performance level!

For momentum's sake I think Ed should have a latin, salsa perhaps, or an AS. Something crowd pleasing whilst he becomes fitter.

Ed and Katya will be dancing the Jive to 'Great Balls of Fire' by Jerry Lee Lewis (from Great Balls of Fire)

Brilliant music! Come on Katya - pull out a routine on a par with last Saturday's!

No he's not. They're on ITT and he has a samba, which is great and better than a jive as the latter needs more fitness. They haven't announced his song though.

Oh, this is wrong. I must have copied someone's prediction. They are doing...

Really nice rapport between Ed and Katya on ITT. He's committed and she's devoted. She said that she looked at him during the charleston and saw he was on fire. George Osbourne's supporting (and voting?) for Ed!

I think a samba is better for him at this stage. Depending on the styling and song he can pull off decent bounce, if not hips and with a character to play. I know charleston's high energy but so is the jive and I judge that when he's fitter - assuming he stays that long - he'll deliver a fab jive. Ed has good timing and feeling for music (learning the piano) so I'm not worried about a latin rhythms dance. It will come down to flexibility and hip movement.

If he had been given a ballroom number he might get lost and lose momentum with the voting public. A latin ensures nasty remarks from Craig, sympathy from the public if he gives it his all and a vote into next week

Blimey! But on the other hand, given he'd have to learn any dance from scratch, maybe a samba at this stage with the big movie theme is less scary than on an ordinary week. At least it'll be eye catching

ITT was filmed yesterday so it is possible they now have Jive as the website suggests?

And it also gets the samba out of the way, I suppose. I do hope we get to see him jive to that track.

And here's his samba music, apparently. I wonder if he'll be channelling Jim Carrey?

Ooh, good piece for the dance even though it's more Cuban than Brazilian ... would have made a good salsa but I'm sure the band will add the samba tempo. So, is Ed to be dressed as Jim Carrey! Hee, hee. It will be memorable.

They could have great fun with this theme if he is - and I mean, how could the public NOT vote for Ed with a pea green face and THOSE teeth?. Fingers crossed.

I loved that film.

So the song has been used before for a salsa with Dave Myers - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qY_leiOiaU

I think Ed can improve on Dave

I think he can improve too, although I'm not holding out too much hope for the hip action. Ed and Katya seem to get on really well. I mean they wouldn't be posing like this if they didn't get on would they? https://twitter.com/mrs_katjones/sta...57003414503429
