Vulnerable people, dealing with money, mingling with young women co-workers and trusted with confidential information.. this won't end well IMO. Too much temptation for Dan who is about as discrete as a bank robber going back into the same bank he robbed.

How he passed the checks and interview is beyond me !

If he is indicative of who the care industry are now employing I never want to get old !!

Dan is kind, patient, fairly practical and willing to 'get his hands dirty' which are the main requirements of a Carer.

When has he ever proved himself to be dishonest with money? When has he shown any perverted interests re young girls? When has he passed on confidential info - and he's been aware of enough dodgy dealings at the Garage over the years.

A Dingle? No, i wouldn't trust them as they are thieves who treat people badly.

I wouldn't trust him, but not because of the reasons the OP states, he would become to close to some 90 year old woman after Kerry is not paying enough attention and seduces the senior citizen and her poor family would end up walking in on it

Dan has got close to Nicola because Kerry couldn't give a monkeys and is so self absorbed she doesn't even know when he needs support. Making out he's dodgy around young women is a bit unfair - he's done nothing to suggest that he's a risk. He's caring and thoughtful and a decent Dad. I can't see why he'd not pass a DBS either - when has he done something illegal involving vulnerable people?

I like Dan these days. He's s sensitive, kind, wants to do something worthwhile. He's s cut out to be a carer. It's s ' comedy Dan's I can't t be bothered with. I used to like his relationship with Sean too, and I found his reaction to Ruby's s death very believable. He was one of the few who even remembered the helicopter crash.

He's only volunteering at the minute. All he'd be allowed to do is shadow the workers, help make beds, serve drinks and food and talk to the residents. When I was in college on work placements in care homes, I spent a lot of time washing up and drying cups and plates that the staff were too busy to do, just for something to do. Dan hasn't even started on studying a health and social care course yet, so there's a lot he won't be able to do or get involved in.

He won't be trusted with any confidential information or have access to money, not that there'd be a worry about that with Dan anyway. He's a decent person and is clearly eager to help people where he can. Unlike his ex wife Ali, who stole money from the vulnerable man Ruby was caring for and allowed Ruby to take the blame and lose her job, all because he had a lot of money there and she thought she was entitled to help herself to it, with their money troubles.

For different reasons than you have stated however. The fact that Dan passed his GCSE's is just completely unbelievable to me. I'd like to see his grades. I certainly wouldn't want the bumbling idiot to be looking after me. I'd sooner have Kerry and she can't even write up a rota!

I'm praying that come October I won't even have to worry about this sort of question though, I'm hoping that he gets caught in whatever disaster happens in anniversary week and that when he drops his pint it's because something heavy has crushed him.

Yeah but can you imagine doing the rota for that factory? Laurel's s on maternity leave, Lisa needs Monday off, Joanie has to go early on Wednesday ...I wonder if they ever have a full complement of staff for any shift?

I don't t see any reason why he wouldn't t have passed GCSEs and even if he isn't t in the least academic, he's s very good with people. I' d say he's s probably more cut out for caring or community work than being a paramedic.

Dan's one of the good characters in Emmerdale.

He may not be the sharpest knife in the draw, but that doesn't detract from his basic decency, or the fact that he's good with people.

I think that he would make an excellent carer and would have no problem with a 'Dan' character looking after me or mine, when I reach my dotage.

The kiss with Nicola was a bagatelle. It would never have happened had Kerry not been such a self centred cow. Does she know, even now, that Dan had a patient die on him on his first day at the care home? Compare it to Kerry's reaction? Throwing herself first at Jimmy, who had the sense to say no, and then at Dross, who, true to form, used her to win a bet and then threw her away like a snotty paper tissue.

So its Kerry's fault that Dan cheated? Kerry was worried about her job and if Dan felt she was ignoring him he should have let his feelings be known instead of kissing a married woman.
