I think they have mentioned taking the animals to the abattoir before.

There is a processing plant on the farm but I don't think we have had any scenes in it since John Barton died

They presumably get slaughtered off site. My friend who has a smallholding sends her animals away for slaughter, then gets the meat back and sells it from the farm. There used to be scenes inside the meat processing plant when it first started. I remember Holly and Adam in the blue hats!It caused them terrible stress because they were all having to work so hard, keeping the farm and the plant going and Moira and John argued a lot over it.

Now the only sign of any farming or meat processing is the occasional animal and that box Moira takes to the pub!

The original Emmerdale Farm disappeared into a sink hole - end of Emmerdale Farm and the programme was changed to just Emmerdale.
