The point of SCD used to be learning to dance. Now if the celeb isn't almost perfect in week 1 they may as well drop dead.

Totally agree!

It's been a day, hasn't it?

I'd be the same (probably far worse) and I'm many decades younger than her.

They do look comfortable . Never heard of the manufacturers Freed of London . I googled and found they supply most of the dance world with handcrafted shoes made in the UK . Good for them .

Does Anton only ever train in a shirt and tie ! I'm all for looking elegant and sartorial but the weather has been very warm recently and surely he needs some cooler attire .

The tie is just weird. Like he's a throwback to the 1930s or something - I'm not even sure they'd have done that back then

He looks so relaxed (and checked out) - ha!

Um, why is this a thread when there's already the Week 1 Dances thread?

I didn't realise the week 1 dances thread would also contain footage.

I will alert the moderators and ask to close or merge.

That was until the party was gatecrashed by ringers such as Natalie & Jay...

Lesley was terrible and I feel sorry for Anton landing her, she's too short for him, the gapping in their Waltz you could get an HGV lorry through no natural style grace or posture whatsoever, she looks like she's chasing him and resembles a towel in a washing machine if I had to score it id say 2 for Anton turning up

I quite like having a separate thread.

I thought this was an ongoing thread with general video footage, not just for week one dances as such.

Thanks! . That was the intention. It would focussed on specifically evaluating footage. But I don't want to upset anyone by changing forum traditions.

I too don't see anything wrong in keeping a separate thread just for videos, nothing wrong with that. Mods, please don't merge, leave as it is. Ta

Please give her a chance, this is day 1 !!
Lesley's standard is no different to any other beginner who has not danced Ballroom before, I am sure with hard work over the next couple of weeks, it will be massively improved on the day. People always underestimate how difficult it is to look good.
There is no point even trying to maintain any sort of connection until she has learned the steps, a lot of people learn in a loose practice hold. Lesley will need to learn the steps, be confident in the steps she is dancing, learn how to hold her arms properly and dance within the frame before she can master connection. Dancing with connection, knowing what you are doing, takes time.

there could be an improvement but theres also a lack of chemistry between them which is needed in a Waltz and she needs to smile& at least look like she is happy& having a good time. I mean yeah Ive learned ballroom and Latin but even I wasn't that bad when I started, this said there is about 50 year age gap between Lesley and me

Give it up ... those two were no more ringers than Natasha, Jill, Alesha, Kara, Tom, Denise & co. There has ALWAYS been contestants with more dance ability/experience than others.
Change the bloomin' record!
It's a dance programme ... it will attract people who like ... and have always liked .. to dance!!
God save us from a show full of Russell Grants!

So you learnt the choreography for a show routine and a new set of steps, including a double reverse spin on your first day? And you danced it all in proper hold with great posture and a big smile, which you would have checked back on video because sometimes how we feel and how we actually look are not the same........

I daresay she is concentrating on learning the steps - a completely new skill to her - I doubt many people in her situation, on day 1 of a lesson, would be smiling and looking happy as though she is having a good time. She is of course, but she needs to concentrate on the job in hand for now. All the smiling will come later as part of the performance.

Strictly speaking this is from Yvette Cooper's kitchen rather than a studio, but still training footage!
