Peri is slightly more interesting because it was invented for A Doctor Who companion in 1984 - at least Perpugilliam was which Peri was short for. They'd had several unusual names, including Romana, Leela and Tegan but Nyssa and then Peri were the first they believed they'd invented.
However, this works in Hollyoaks as they established right at the start that Danny and Sam were Who fans and had named all their children after companions. A tradition continued with Rose. Even Ste fits in, as there was a male companion called Steven in 1965.

I like the Dr. Who connections regarding the name of the Lomax girls, it annoyed me when Peri named her daughter Steph, I know obviously she was named after our dear departed Ms. De la Dean, but carrying on the Who theme would have been nice if they named her Sarah-Jane in memory of Elizabeth Sladen for example.
