Couples in EastEnders.

When was the last time a couple got together, without any angst or miscommunication?

All the following had drama before they got together:
Tamwar and Nancy
Shabnam and Kush
Martin and Stacey
Sonia and Tina (I think)
Lee and Whitney
Carmel and Masood
Ben and Paul

Denise and Kush have liked each other for a while. They finally acted on their feelings, but Denise put a stop to it because of Kush's mum. The Carmel angle was a big enough hurdle for them, now they have thrown in Denise's pregnancy.

It would be nice if a couple got together in simpler way. On the show, there's always some kind of drama. I know it can make good scenes, but you get invested in couples and then it takes ages for any progession.

If I recall correctly, Martin and Stacey getting together seemed quite natural, for EastEnders anyway?

Martin tried making a move on Stacey, she rejected him. Then a few episodes later, they slept together. After, she said that she didn't want to ruined their friendship. Kush chose Shabnam so she decided to go with Martin. (Something like that.)
