He's bloody gorgeous but the character leaves me cold. Obviously Susan Tully would never return but both parents should ideally have been part of this, it feels quite damp and like it's just a vehicle for Grant to come back again for a bit

Fabulous.

But who will be his Sandy?

People on here are probably too young to know this but his character has actually been modelled on the early Todd Carty version of Mark who returned in 1990.

He is a nice normal kid just like Martin is. I'd like to see him back just to boost the Fowler numbers.

They would be stupid not to bring him back. Plus that body!!! the show needs nice normal characters. I'm sick of rapists and murderers. I just want to cheer on some nice guys and Mark is one of them

Well put. Some of the comments, especially about Pauls hair, were really nasty and unnecessary in my opinion.

I'm prepaired to over look the accent thing as I am old enough to remember how terrible the whole accent fiasco was with Vicki.

I like Mark and I do hope him and Courtney feature again.

The accent doesn't bother me. Mark comes over as a nice character and I hope they keep him around. Same goes for Courtney.

It annoys me that as with Andy, EE brought in a hunk for just a short stint. We just get used to having them around and then they are cruelly snatched away.

I really like him, as has been said he is normal! and I really want him to stick around!!

Him and Courtney are 2 of the best characters they have introduced, they both have connections to the square so wouldn't be out of place

Mark is likeable and uncomplicated so obviously he can't stay in a hellhole like Walford for long. I don't see a future for him as a regular character.

Courtney is whiney, unlikeable and probably a bitch so clearly she's going to stay. Mores the pity because the actress is shit in my opinion. I can barely understand a word she says. Enunciate, you slaaaaaag!

I find the character boring, I seem to tune out when he is on. The storyline is not grabbing me at all, perhaps it is because the actor chosen bears no resemblance to either or his soap parents and does not have even a slight American accent. I am sure they have plenty of young American actors they could have picked for EE.

The character himself is fine. In fact its quite refreshing to have a 'nice' boy on the show and i can overlook the accent thing as an American accent would only grate and at least they've learn't a little from the Vicki debacle. The problem for me is how weak the storyline introducing him has been. Michelle couldn't stand Peggy and had kept the secret for over 20 years, why would she write her a letter spilling everything now?. Ian and Sharon just shrugged it off like it was no big deal purely because with Michelle and the other Fowlers not there its made no impact and i'm actually on their side throughout this whole 'you should tell him who you are, you'll be the best daddy he could ever want' scenario i'm not on Grant's which i get the impression i'm supposed to be. Mark has a Dad, he's not missed out on anything by all accounts and he's turned out a lovely lad for it. Grant's missed out on a son but at the end of the day Michelle wasn't likely to let him be a part of Mark's life anyway so it wouldn't make much difference.

Mark's storyline could easily have been written more organically with Mark visiting Martin for any number of logical reasons instead of all this contrived nonsense with Michelle and her stupid letter. It all seems to have been done so the producer can take credit for being being 'the one that finally brought that secret to light', the problem now being its been done so badly they might as well have not bothered playing with even more of the show's history just to get Ross Kemp back for a 3 week guest stint.

Mark's nice, he's good looking and i like the nod to him looking like his Uncle but he just seems out of place in the Square. He works fine as a guest character and could work as a regular character once Grant's gone again but this storyline has made his connection to the show seem a bit weak so i'm not sure what scope there really is for him (or Courtney for that matter) as regular characters once he's gone. They might work better as a Libby Fox style recurring characters.

It has been explAINED WHY HE TALKS AS HE DOES ,He went to English School.I think for a young actor he is quite good ,all hairstyles on the young are outlandish these days ,as for Shakils !! Yes hope he stays

Looks very much like the original Mark Fowler (pre-Todd Carty).

It feels like there is more to come. Seems a bit pointless bringing him in, otherwise.

Amen! I've been thinking the exact same for a while now.

A LOT of young guys have hairstyles like Mark and Shakil - especially in London. The quiff and top-knot are probably the two most popular male hairstyles of recent years. The poster that suggested they have something more modern should know they are modern and on trend. As for Paul's hair, again, a lot of guys have longer hair. It'd be unrealistic and samey if every guy on the square was bald or had a "traditional" male hairstyle.

I'd like to see him return far too much history with the Mitchell's for him not too, Courtney has to return she was brilliant.

Well, I wouldn't say no.

He seems alright. Keep him away from Shakil/Louise and pair him up with the early20somethings.

Why is he called Mark Fowler if he believed Michelle's husband (who I assume is not called Fowler) was his father?

He really didn't have much to do until his final episode, and I thought his scenes in the car with Sharon proved he was up to the job. The rest was banter with Shaki and making bad uses of english slang. I hope he has difficulty with Michelle and comes to live with Martin.
