Humax White PVR
I have a Humax Freesat PVR which I hate, as the channel system is awful.
For the bedroom, the white Humax Freeview PVR appeals, as it's white! But, can you put channels into YOUR preferred order, like the Panasonics. (Who don't make one in white). |

(Who don't make one in white). ![]() What is the model number(s) of the Humax Freeview PVR and the Panasonics ? What is the model number of the Humax Freesat PVR you hate ? Frankly without this basic level of information how can you possibly expect anyone to have any sort of clue as to how to help you. Basically - Freesat boxes have the epg tied down by the Freesat certification. The maker of the box has no influence on the capability to to re-order the epg. Freeview boxes have in the past some capability to re-order the epg, Newer Freeview boxes using the latest variants like Freeview play do not. Basically the LCN (logical channel numbers) are sought after by the broadcast companies who pay epg providers listing fees. The epg you use provides the LCN the channel appears on. The box makers have no control of this. Why do you need to have non standard lcn numbers ? Alll the boxes I know have the ability tp skip directly to the epg line, if you know the LCN. |

The OP asked if he could buy a white Humax PVR which allows reordering of the channels. I doubt he cares which model number (if more than one) let alone Panasonic model numbers.
The reply has to be a classic - how not to answer a question in 180 words. ![]() As for the Panasonics as we have absolutely no idea which model(s) he is considering how can anyone say if epg re-ordering is possible. You can filter the epg in several ways but you cannot change the lcn's nor change the order they appear in.

I think most Humax PVRs let you set up 'favourites' lists of channels in any order, but don't let you change the actual channel numbers. Would that fit the bill?
The two units that can run custom firmware (Foxsat-HDR and HDR-FOX-T2) have more capability when the epg is viewed using a web browser, but neither is a current unit. No experience with the Youview DTR Humax range, but would be amazed if you can re-order the epg on these either. |

The OP refers to a "white freeview PVR" and asks a question about it. At a guess the model could be the partially white freeview FVP-4000T Cappuccino but that is described by Humax as being Cappiccino in colour - the top and top edge are not white. Another guess and it could be the white freesat HDR-1100S but that is freesat - not freeview. |

You can set up favourites but you cannot change the order on any Humax pvr I ever owned. You most certainly can't on Foxsat-HD, Foxsat-HDR, HDR1000s/1010s/1100S and HB1000S. Nor on a Freeview + HDR-FOX T2.

I can change the allocated LCN numbers on my HDR-FOX T2 and have done so on 2 of them. There are 2 custom firmware packages which can facilitate LCN modification with the latest one being 'tunefix'.

And these appear on the TV when you use the box normally rather than viewing the epg via a Web Browser ?
A common use is for getting the HD channels into the LCNs for their standard definition equivalents. http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Custom_Fir...Notes#Renumber https://hummy.tv/forum/threads/renum...xtension.1821/ http://wiki.hummy.tv/wiki/Custom_Fir..._Notes#Tunefix https://hummy.tv/forum/threads/tunef...ntenance.6639/ |

The reply has to be a classic - how not to answer a question in 180 words. ![]() ![]() Anyway... sorry, I refer to the 4000 Cappuccino, and I have an 1100. The 1100 lets you put channels in favourites but, once you've selected the channel, it reverts back to the full list when you prog up or prog down. Every Panasonic for years has let you rearrange your Freeview EPG to your liking. The reason I want this is because I have HD modulators in line showing Italian, French and German TV. I want those on the 1 button press channel numbers, for convenience. So I have 1-5 the regular channels in HD, 6 is Tivusat, 7 Is Fransat, 8 is HD+. After that I only have the HD channels, I don't watch any of the other ones, hence not wanting to trawl through them every day. Even the Pana which has Freeview Play allows this to happen. Thanks for the answers, I'll swerve the 4000. I'll just get a Pana and hide it away. |
