They introduce Paul's mum 1 week before he dies and he doesn't get to find out who she is and then she vanishes.

What was the point and does she even know that he's dead?

I was just thinking the exact same thing! What happened to that storyline? She and Pam had that row and Pam threw her out, and then Paul accuses her of being the blackmailer and that was the last we saw of her. I reckon that's why there's more to Pam's grief than is normal (well, whatever normal grief is ) It seems she's also feeling guilty albeit subconciously, for keeping Paul away from his mum and lying to both of them all that time, that was out of order. So she didn't tell her about her son's death? That's gonna blow up in her face. I hope the writers don't forget or gloss over that storyline too much, Pam needs to know how her actions affected everyone.

Not informing Jenny about her sons death is disgusting behaviour.
