Emily - she really isn't coming back is she

I think that "temporary farewell" was far too much like a leaving scene....Eileen is a very private woman and didn't want all the fuss - so they did it so when it's announced - there won't be much of a hoohah.

Very sad if the case.

Don't get me wrong but it will be all the more sadder when Eileen passes away - as we will very likely not see her again before that.

I would think due to her own privacy she requested a low key exit and i do believe we wont see her on the street again. That said, she could surprise us all.

Maybe she could make a guest appearance

I'd be quite happy to see her as a character (similar to aunt sal) who turns up every now and again. Maybe she can sell to Norris and go live with spider...come back every now and again to see her friends.

I think your right OP. If the actress really just wanted a break they could easily have just had Emily not appear onscreen for 6 months. In recent years she's been reduced to only appearing onscreen once or twice a month anyway. They could have pre-recorded a handful of scenes and then slotted them over the 6 month period so viewers would not have even noticed Emily's absence. The fact they have gone to the effort of writing her out with Emily receiving an onscreen exit and moving abroad makes it seem quite final. Eileen Derbyshires way of retiring without a big fuss being made.

Norris already owns the house

From what I heard she is coming back.

If she has chosen to leave surely Corrie would announce it by now that Emily wasn't being brought back? I know the actress is private, but nothing is stopping them telling fans.

When you watch it again it does seem very final.

That scene still makes me angry at the fact that they HAD to put Ken's silly little girlfriend in to spoil it.

Emily is now making a living performing in very specialist and niche adult videos in Peru.

Haha - images in my head!!

I think the Peru thing was a bit silly - looking after a sick Freda would have been more believable

Well I don't watch Corrie these days but I just watched this clip and there's no doubt in my mind the OP is right. Either it was written as a low-key permanent exit at Eileen's request, or it was in the back of everyone's minds that she might not return. Either way it's clear from this scene she might not be back.
