EU Scraps EU Roaming fee scrap
Without going into the whole brexit thing, the EU has just scrapped its plans to scrap EU roaming fees for mobile operators.
This appears to have sprung up over a disagreement over the proposed plan which would have allowed for free roaming for upto 30 days and a maximum of 90 days a year more info here http://arstechnica.co.uk/tech-policy...apped-juncker/ |

It hasn't been scrapped at all, they're just trying to fine tune the exact rules...
The Commission proposed costumers being able to use their home allowance abroad for 90/360 days and no more than 30 days consecutive. This was done to prevent people buying contracts abroad and permanently roaming on them. Now the consumer rights groups and many MEP's are pushing for even higher allowances, when the telecom companies are pushing for less. |

Commission spokesperson Alexander Winterstein defended the scrapped proposal on Friday and blamed "misleading reports" for suggesting that roaming charges will not be abolished in June 2017—"there is not a shred of doubt of that," he told reporters.
"It was a good proposal, but not good enough for our president. The president saw and heard the feedback, and in light of that decided that this proposal was not adequate," before adding: "The president isn’t necessarily informed of all the technical provisions in the draft." Asked whether the commission was "flip-flopping," Winterstein said: "Sometimes we’re criticised for not listening, now we’re criticised for listening! "Our president says he needs something better so we will go back to the drawing board. Our proposals are will be on time to guarantee that roaming charges will be abolished by June 2017," he said, adding that the revised proposals will come "soon." |

I'm hoping that by June 2017 the EU will be a distant memory.

Nobody in the right mind wants to see a return of charges for 080* numbers on mobiles, mass premium rate 084* and 087* call charges for calling company and organisation customer services, NHS and GP services, and local authority and central government departments like before July 2015 making a return, plus high mobile roaming charges for making calls on the mainland and Ireland again just because the UK will be outside the EU. |

The UK government reversing all the beneficial telecommunication laws that have recently came into force and still to come into force for the consumer, both in mobile and fixed line telecommunications that were proposed by the EU (enforced by ofcom) once the UK is out of the EU, or the EU is abolished would be pathetic.

You're hoping that the EU will disintegrate entirely within the next nine months? Er, ok...

Well that would be nice, but failing that I'll settle for the UK leaving it!

I doubt the EU will manage to defecate England and Wales by 2017. Quote:
