Series 9 CD
Does anyone know when the soundtrack for Series 9 will be released? The music is so enchanting and beguiling. As the dvd is already out I wouldn't have thought it will be long

The music publishing rights have not long just changed company from Silva Screen to BMG, which probably explains the delay in BBC soundtrack releases.
BBC Worldwide recently sold their music publishing rights to the BMG/Chrysalis label. So hopefully it'll put some wind in the sails for some more releases of DW incidental music and other BBC shows too. https://webcache.googleusercontent.c...&ct=clnk&gl=uk |

Apparently the recent change in publishing rights won't have any impact on the Doctor Who soundtracks - Silvascreen will continue to release them, though when to expect the Series 9 soundtrack remains a bit of a mystery. BMG's involvement is that they may distribute Doctor Who music (as well as that of various other brands) to third parties outside of the BBC - hypothetically speaking you could now hear Doctor Who music in a TV advert that has nothing to do with Doctor Who, and BMG are responsible for that.
My guess is that it was simply the larger gap than usual between Series 9 and Series 10 that has led to a decision to hold it back a bit. Hopefully when it does eventually surface (I'm thinking maybe they'll aim for a December release) they're going to have had the time to perfect it and get the right stuff on there - I felt the Series 8 soundtrack was a bit rushed in places, and I felt they tried to get it out in a hurry alongside the Symphonic tour. |

I hope it's not too much longer. I can't believe there's been no official word, from any source. We still don't know for sure if there's even going to BE a release.

I am hoping there will be a release, but don't be surprised if there isn't. Series 9 wasn't exactly the best ever, with overnight ratings proving this. Sleep No More has to be the worst story of the Series, if not the worst to be broadcast since 2005.
As for overnight ratings, well they don't really speak of the quality of series 9 one way or the other. |

That's absolutely nothing to do with the music though. They've already released the series 9 boxset, so no reason why the music soundtrack won't follow soon.
