Great interview and he seems very humble

the blokes an utter cock he hasn't changed at all i know the bloke of old and lived very near. his grovelling doesn't wash with me.yes he knows he made mistakes but he just can't help himself, everytime he opens his mouth he puts his foot in it.it won't be long before he's at it again. I wonder what his next tattoo will be, after he won the xfactor he had 'king Arthur ' tattood.also there's nothing special to be proud of winning the xfactor as its a known fact its fixed so simon cowell's record label 'Sysco' can make him loads of dosh. so all I will say now is watch this pace for Arthur to mess up again.he's never going to be the mega star he thinks he is.he was crap in the local pub scene and its amazing what auto tune can do.

I like how the main argument right now is that James is a dick because of what he said many a year ago yet no one seems to be talking about the song. We've all made mistakes in the past and screwed stuff up before, difference is James has apologised for that stuff and moved forward from it, hence the stripped back nature of the song.

It just seems pointless to complain about someones mistake from three years ago when I'm sure many people on this forum have effed up in worse ways.

I've never been a fan and probably never will be, but I actually felt quite sorry for him during that interview. He seemed quite fragile, and close to tears throughout. I hope he really has got his act together and has learned from his mistakes. I don't particularly want to see or hear him again, though.

Well he was a fool in the past but now appears to have moved on I have followed him on Twitter for more than 18 months and know he does not engage in arguments with others any more. I thought it was a great interview and will be willing him on. As he said negativity is a pointless emotion

I think he said some silly things but I do think he is genuine regretful. I abhorred his comments at the time but look everyone can learn and grow. It would be petty to hold a grudge against him after he's tried to mend bridges. He is one of the most talented X Factor winners and his new song is excellent, bodes very well for his upcoming album. I'm glad he's having some success again.

Its funny as the only people coming across as bad/ d!cks is the people calling him a dick and not giving a second chance.

Everyone can change and redeem themselves and it seems going by interviews that he wasn't very well back them.

He seems really humble and in a good place - if you look on his twitter he seems amazed the song is anywhere near the top 10 and wasn't expecting any form of success - why would he? especially given the fact most XF acts aren't exactly setting the charts alight (barring Little Mix) - even Olly is struggling in the new streaming climate.

He debuted at 25 offically - mainly due to streaming.

However the song now has a big lead on itunes and is top 100 on spotify; so it looks like its going to get a hefty climb next week - especially if radio/ tv begin to support it big time and he gets some tv performances to promote it.

Be interesting to see if he is invited to perform on one of the XF live shows

He was actually number 3 based on sales alone which is impressive. Really wish him all the best with the future and hope people have him another chance as he's talented

Well, they're "distributing" the album in the UK anyway. It's probably best of both worlds for James. He doesn't have to do what Simon Cowell says but his label will promote the record.

He isn't my cup of tea musically and I think he behaved like a complete arse but he appears to have genuine remorse about his past and has grown up a lot.
Despite him not appealing to me particularly, I think he is the most credible and relevant XF winner ever and could have definitely had a career had he not self destructed. He could have been competing with acts like Sam Smith and John Newman for awards rather than being publicly dumped and becoming a pariah.
Good luck to him as he has the talent to make something of his second chance

If it's true he's re-signed to Syco then he really is an absolute idiot. He's doing well without them which is incredibly hard for an act from X Factor. He would have had other labels knocking at his door. Syco are crap. Absolutely awful label.

That's the part I don't get. He went off the rails, sure. But SYCO didn't do anything to help protect him. They just threw up their hands and said "Too much trouble".

I reckon James doesn't have much say in the matter. Columbia have licenced the album to Syco UK - I expect James hasn't signed anything.

I liked him on X Factor. Vocally he's my favourite winner. Love the song and hope his comeback is successful.

His voice is amazing; it's just a shame about the personality.

That being said ... not loving this song but I'm glad honestly that it's done well. 3rd in sales with very little promotion is amazing!!
