Grant, Ronnie and Roxy?
TLC1098

Anyone else find it weird that Grant didn't share one scene with either of them?
Even on Tuesday episode when he and Ronnie were both in the same house they weren't even seen on screen together.

Ronnie and Roxy are both leaving and Grant may never return so that was the only time we could've ever seen them interact.

Grants entire return has been a huge waste of time so I'm not surprised the writers couldn't be arsed to give him a scene with either. They couldn't even be arsed to write that Courtney knew who they were.

Same goes for Phil and Mark Jnr. Surely Phil met him back in 2006 when he brought Sharon to Michelle's.

Also sad that Grant didn't share a scene with Billy.

Did he share scenes with Louise?

His entire return was pointless! Why bother rewriting history (and risking the ire of a faithful audience) when nothing really comes of it anyway?

Total bullshit. DTCs entire run has been based on BIG DRAMA that either amounts to nothing (this) or where they don't actually know where to take it (the whole Who Killed Lucy saga and Jay's superficial drug story-line).

It seems to be a common thing that the writers/producers never show the character interactions we want to see, like Kathy and Peggy just before the latter's death, or even Sharon and Colin in last night's episode (even though they were just a couple of metres away from each other in the Vic).

Grant going round to visit Ronnie and Roxy is unnecessary fanfic stuff, the kind of thing the show should be moving away from. He doesn't even know them. Grant had very limited screen time so I'm glad they devoted it to characters to which he has previously had a strong connection.

Very true.

Expect we're supposed to believe that Ronnie lived with him and Peggy in Portugal in the few months break she had in 2014. She surely would've met and got to know both Grant and Courtney in that time!

I was waiting for Sharon & Colin to interact as well even if it took Sharon a while to clock on who he was as she would have been in her late teens/early 20s when she last saw him but he would have remembered her instantly. Instead nothing.

Even if Colin had said to Dot later that he'd seen Sharon in the Vic, but didn't want to interrupt her intense conversation with the man she was with (Grant) that would at least have been something.

We've never seen them on screen together, so what would the audience actually gain from it? It would have been fan service and nothing more. I'd much rather see Grant with characters he already knows given his extremely limited screen time.

All will certainly not be missed by me, I was so disappointed when each disappeared from the show and came back, especially Ronnie

What would he have said 'Oh I spotted that kid that used to live in the Vic....now what was her name?

EastEnders can't become too self-referential. It alienates large sections of the audience and it feels like fanfic. That was a big problem with DTC's era.

As if Colin would have paid a blind bit of notice to Sharon or Ian, who he vaguely knew 30 years ago when they were teenagers. They wouldn't have even recognised each other. He was there to see Dot, his friend. Just like Grant was there to see his closest relatives, not the faux Mitchells who turned up several years after he left.

Surly Grant would of known Ronnie and Roxy, they are his cousins, growing up etc.

Unless Phil didn't know them when they arrived in 07? Can't remember.

Peggy didn't even recognise them when they turned up in 07, so they can't have been that close.

well she knew who they were when they said they were ARchie's daughters.

When Phil was in one of his many hospital visits back in the day I remember Ronnie and Roxy sayng Phil bullied them when they were really young so its possible Peggy hadn't seen them for 20 years.

Whilst I agree it would have been fanfic to have a self indulgent scene between Grant and R&R just one scene with the family would have been nice. Grant with Billy too.

Instead we get Colin with Jonny (should have been Ben IMO) and Grant in scenes with Mick.

That's DTC's own fanfic being played out.

I thought that the Colin and Johnny scene worked really well, and I think that if it was with Ben, it would've detracted from Ben's story. I was impressed by Colin's return as it actually provided a nice parallel to the storyline without seeming shoehorned in or fanfic. It fitted very nicely

his return was absolutely pointless and a complete disappointment, i also found it very poor he never once interacted with ronnie and roxy, eastenders is such a letdown these days, also why have courtney and mark not been kept on? poor decision.
