What a strange set up in the Platts, a mother, her son and daughter and all their kids living together in a tiny house People just don't live like that, do they? Also, couldn't believe it when Gail said she was getting the house ready for when Michael moves back in, how can there possibly be room for him?
We seen last night that David has the annexe all to himself, so the rest of them must sleep upstairs, it's got 2 double bedrooms and a third boxroom, so I reckon Max and Lily in one, Sarah, Bethany and the baby in the other, and Gail in the boxroom, soon to be shared with Michael, how far fetched that people would live like that nowadays, total rubbish! Glad to get that off my chest!

I don't think the bedrooms at that small. The house is near enough twice the size of the nazirs and sallys and has space over the garage.

But yes ppl do live like that. Not everyone lives in council houses and can just demand more space when they want

The houses on that side of the Street are all the same size (3 bedroom), The Platts just looks bigger as it's the only one with a garage attached, the room above the garage , I imagine that's the boxroom or the bathroom, not sure which. There is one large window at the front and another at the back.

If you can remember, when Gail wanted to continue living there after David bought it, he said she could as long as she moved into the boxroom, to give Max the bigger bedroom.

They aren't. If you look at the pictures of the new set the platts is bigger. Don't know if they did that when doing the new set or if it was before.

If you google the new set, the daily mail had some good pics up in a story

Not saying it has more bedroom but in terms of upstairs space it looks like it is bigger

Why ever not? She does not go to work. David works full time, so its only natural that Gail does the housework.

Will have a look at new set Still think it's odd that they all prefer to be squeezed in together, and as for Gail inviting Michael to live there again, what a cheek.
Will Gail ever leave that house? Through time, David will be eventually be paired off with someone else, and Gail will still be there, I bet!

Natural? She's a lodger.

Hardly. She's David's mother and the kids' granny. They were the 'lodgers' long before she was. Considering she spends most of her time babysitting said kids, (when she's not cleaning the Bistro), as well as doing almost all the shopping, cooking and cleaning for the house, David would be lost without her.

If David had hos own place he would have to do his own housework so I don't see why Gail being there makes any difference

I don't understand why Sarah, Bethany and Harry live there. Why not stay with Audrey in her 3 bed in Grassmere Drive? Surely the overcrowding, Sarah being recently released from a psych unit and a new baby being in the house means some housing benefit and welfare payments so Sarah can get her own place? The house isn't a Tardis and Max is too old to be sharing with Lily. How can Gail fit in the box room with Michael? Was Bethany staying with Nick? Four adults, a teenager, 2 kids and a newborn in a 3 bed with annexe is silly.

I wonder the same thing about Chesney's. Firstly it's Les's council house so how come he's still in it? It has two bedrooms - one for Chesney and Sinead and one for Kirk and Beth. Where does Craig sleep? The airing cupboard?

Or in the ginnel with his social conscience and spraycans This post caught my eye I often used to puzzle over the Grimshaw sleeping arrangements? Methinks the hacks who serve this nonsense up are so busy working on the latest piece of sensationalism they have little time for mere detail. There again so long as there are people who are prepared or gullible enough to accept that there could be 95 Dennis Tanner look alikes living in Ritas flat for example, then poorly written ' guff'will continue. What galls me is, once a year they all come together to pat each other on the back. I have to hand it to them they are bloody priceless.

Yours no longer a regular

Of course she will, no-one EVER washes better than their mother, and Gail washes better than anyone on the street!

I don't think Sarah, Bethany and Harry would all fit in a boxroom - so if Gail swapped rooms with David and Kylie, then Max and Lily must be in the boxroom. Maybe they're in Gail and Michael's old bunk beds.

David has his own place - the house he's living in belongs to him. Depending on the type of life insurance (if any) Kylie had, or possibly a joint policy, he might now own it mortgage-free.

Agreed. My mum had me doing my own washing when I was three. Or 12, whatever same difference.

Come on, David.

I know a fair few people who don't live at home, a couple with their own families that still do not do their own washing

I am just jealous, you can be damn sure if I actually had a mother she would be doing all my cooking, cleaning and washing till I at least found a husband to take over . but I don't so looks like it all falls on my shoulders

Why don't you buy one of Phelans new apartments. They have all the mod cons you need, they even have room service to wash and clean. Have a word with Alex. He is the real estate agent for this state of the art development. Just for once indulge yourself. If you get a chance, let me know how you enjoy your purchase. Thanks.

So how do they fit Max and Lily in a box room? Or is it Sarah, Bethany and Harry . Our old house had a box room and barely had room for a single bed never mind a bunk bed for two kids and all of their stuff.

I've just been watching the episode where David pushes Gail down the stairs after finding out she'd help Tina through her abortion.

David's bedroom (at the time) was at the top of the stairs directly in front of you; the box room being to the left and I assume the third bedroom and bathroom to the right (off screen).

Although the houses weren't to scale over at Quay Street I remember seeing Gail Worth talking about the time they were in the garage with Richard and how the car (Vauxhall Zafira?) barely fit!
