The article goes on to cite Scarlett Moffatt as a potential exception to the rumoured new rule, but I'd argue that Gogglebox, for which she's most well known, is not a reality show in the sense that I understand the term.

But back to CBB - it's been a constant refrain here over the past few years that most people have never heard of half the HMs, so this might go some way to addressing the issue.

I can definitely understand with IAC as it's more of a family show on prime time and so the viewers want to see people they've actually heard of.
Most people over about the age of 25 have now idea who is in TOWIE etc and so there needs to be a wider selection of actual known names, all be it blasts from the past in most cases.

I hate that CBB has turned into another scripted reality show full of famous for bugger all typpes but I think the genie is too far out of the bottle to ever go back now and the new audience they're aiming for seem to be the ones who love non entities

I agree with IMACGMOOH producers putting a ban on reality stars because they are social media aware, have a large following and it is an unfair advantage over real celebrities.

C5 should also apply it to CBB and it would be easier for them to do it if it was on just once a year. If they are worried about normal BB not getting the same ratings then put some effort into it and make it better.

It's an interesting theory but I remain to be convinced especially as Vicky Pattison is likely getting the itv2 show presenters job .

I'm a celebrity was the traditional show of old timer has been , I suspect that it's a lot of these old timers that have moaned that reality people have a huge advantage .

The old timers were just contend to sit around take their money talk a little about the old days and that was usually enough as was probably biggins plan.

Absolutely zero chance of c5 banning reality stars in relation to who owns the channel.

Although cbb is starting to really struggle to get any old time uk celebs who can do well or have a chance of winning

After watching last weekend's X Factor, I'd say we'll almost certainly see Bradley & Ottavio either in regular BB or CBB, depending on how far they can get.

IACGMOOH still has some cache for those who are take part... CBB has absolutely none. It's a grubby, nasty, spiteful little show and no 'real' celebrity, with anything to lose, would touch it.

If they enforced a ban on reality stars, they simply wouldn't have a cast.

exactly, this is not happening with this channel or the channels mentailty.

I would love if the producers mentioned more about what the fans of the show thought a aswell and not just what the past celebs of the show thought.

At least the majority of contestants have to earn their money on IAC, granted there are a few who have an easier time of it than others. But they all end up hungry for most of the time spent there. They don't have parties, takeaways, booze etc., handed to them on a plate. If they don't participate fully in the tasks they don't eat, which is as it should be. CBB & BB could do well to follow in their footsteps instead of pandering to the HM's constantly. You wouldn't have HM's throwing food around whenever they felt like it if the producers started showing a bit of backbone!

What IAC do, is no guide to what CBB may do in the future, there are zero implications for CBB as a result of anything IAC do. IAC isnt as reliant on the RTV types as CBB is sadly increasingly becoming. IAC has a far greater reputation for celebs, if this report is indeed true then it serves to underline the facts above. CBB on the other hand will take what they can get, right now RTV types are far more likely to consider CBB then real celebs and bring with them a built in fan base, which added to the fact they are cheap (if reports are to be believed, a certain someone only cost £12k!) makes them perfect fodder for CBB.

Put simply, IAC could ban RTV types as they can survive without them but CBB cannot.

CBB is literally bottom of the barrel when any celeb is looking for some easy reality tv cash.
Bear and his ilk are the best they're likely to get nowadays.

I will be giving CBB a miss from now on. And just watch the normal BB at least they have had interesting HM's that make the show watchable. There are better programs for me to watch. We have IMACGMOOH that runs longer then the UK version and BBCAN5 even without Nikki and Tim would be better to watch then CBB.

That's how I felt at the end of the recent CBB - i've always preferred the civilian version but I think this was the first time I really seriously thought I might be done with CBB. By the end I felt like I was just watching cause i'd started so i'd finish.
I'd love them to take the same approach as IAC but as others have said, it's Channel 5 so it seems highly unlikely it will happen.

You've taken the example of Scarlett Whoeversheis (she is as much a nonentity as anyone else), even though she contradicts your argument and is in fact from reality tv. But it's ok that she contradicts your argument, because you like her.
Maybe you should have just titled your thread "CBB Should Ban Reality TV Nonentities Who I Don't Like. Except That Scarlett Nonentity From Reality TV Who I Love".

One person's reality tv nonentity is another person's woman who used to get her breasts out for downmarket newspaper nearly 40 years ago nonentity.

Gogglebox is nothing like the same kind of reality TV as TOWIE, Chelsea, Geordie etc.

She won the show because she played up to the cameras and they were showing her24/7
We hardly saw the others, it's the same On CBB. They are very selective who we see.
I am all for normal celebs . The producers need to remember that all ages watch IAAC. And the contestants should be chosen with that in mind.And not just choosing wannabes.

The show is not the same but the media/fans elevate some of the popular personalities in nearly similar ways some reality TV people are celebrated.

But maybe Googlebox don't have the same kind of "fanatical" fanbases as some of the popular reality shows.

And then when the younger ones get older what then ?

CBB is a show for certain reality stars. Its shown on MTV which is its demographic.

There's more chance of them moving from channel five to a show exclusive to MTV than them banning reality stars.

I couldn't care less about where they source talent but they can't be boring. Bear was tedious. The Geordie shore women are boring.
