Wedding guest dress
I might be making this up, but is it a faux pas to wear a red dress to a wedding?
I'm going to be a guest for a wedding in early February, so kind of winter ish. Red would be ok wouldn't it?? |

I've never heard that there is anything wrong with red.
![]() ETA Just googled and found this. I think its ridiculous nonsense btw. ![]() ''The truth is that there's really nothing wrong with wearing a red dress to a wedding. The real underlying issue with red is that it draws the eye, BIG time. And if there is only one bright red dress among a sea of pastel shades, it will stand out like a sore thumb on the group photos. To avoid stealing the show, I'd suggest avoiding red all together. Especially if the dress color could be described as "fire engine red." Bright red is just too loud and distracting. Deep cranberry is a good alternative''. http://www.theperfectpalette.com/201...t-to-wear.html |

To put it into context, our other cousin got married last month so I wore a navy pink flowery dress and I wanted to wear something non flowery for my cousins in Feb. Another cousin is getting married next September too! It is a bright red in the pics.... |

I would consult with the bride-to-be and get her opinion on it.

What has any of that got to do with the colour of a dress?
![]() There's a geordie lass that I met a few years ago and I cannot stop thinking about her. |

My understanding of the modern etiquette for wedding wear is as follows, from all the bitchy conversations I have overheard and partaken in at the million and one weddings I seem to go to every year:
FYI, it doesn't especially matter if the bride and groom don't care - if you don't want to be the subject of 'let's spill our wine on her' conversations in general, then I'd dodge the following. - obviously, no full white outfits (dress or trousers) and no cream lace or predominantly white ones. - no sexy outfits - fire engine red is a very sexy and eye catching colour, so is probably only ok if the style is suitably demure. - wear a hat. Not enough people wear hats at weddings nowadays. - don't look like you're trying to be a bridesmaid. |

Wear red! Ive never held with these rules for weddings, wear what you want. As long as you aren't wearing a wedding dress you won't be upstaging the bride

I see nothing wrong with wearing red, just make sure it's not the colour of the bridesmaids dresses

I would say as long as it's quite a classy outfit, thats more important than the colour (as long as it's not white or black)
I've seen wedding photos recently and I'm quite shocked at what is considered acceptable attire these days. Many of the girls look like they're going clubbing with tiny little lycra mini dresses or very low cut numbers leaving nothing to the imagination. |
