I was a Beatles fan from the very beginning (Ain't She Sweet, My Bonnie era) so I basically grew with them in my teens.

True, the first two albums were principally covers, but with A Hard Days Night they really came good with some beautiful songs. Beatles for Sale was back to a mix of their own stuff and covers (still a good album though) but then came Help! which was an early watershed album of theirs.

I'm with you on Rubber Soul .. an early girl friend and I spent many cosy evenings on her parents' sofa wearing that album out!

Revolver was a kind of rehearsal for Sergeant Pepper and releases after that just couldn't quite live up to that hugely iconic masterwork. Three years later and they'd broken up which, when you compare that to the longevity of some very ordinary bands today, is really terribly sad.

If only they'd substituted the awful Maxwell's Silver Hammer and Octopus's Garden with, well, almost anything, it would easily have been their best. As it is, side 2 surely beezes it for the title of best single side of an album ever made.

It was usually Ringo who ruined a Beatles album but in the case of Sgt Pepper it was George Harrison. My least favourite Beatles album was Let It Be.

I was a bit harsh, when I said I don't like anything prior to Rubber Soul, it was meant in listening to an album in it's entirety, as there certainly are individual songs I do listen to on earlier albums.

The one artist I couldn't say which my least favorite album is, would be Prince, with him it depends what mood i'm in, if you asked me a while ago I would have said Purple Rain.

Billy Joel - River of Dreams. I just cannot get into it, it seems to have no heart and, despite a couple of songs I really like, I can live without it. It was his last studio album and that's probably why - as the last song on this album says 'These are the last words I have to say'.

I really like this album. I was a bit disappointed when I first heard it but I've had it in my car for months and I love it now.

Sandwiched in between the excellent "On Land and in the Sea" and "Sing To God" double album, I have to say that it doesn't shine all that bright for me.

Manic Street Preachers - Postcards From a Young Man. After the punchy one-two of Send Away the Tigers and Journal for Plague Lovers MSP dropped the ball with this clumsy, blustering effort. Follow-ups Rewind the Film & Futurology put them right back in it mind.

Kate Bush - Fifty Words For Snow. More like fifty words for yawn.

Radiohead - Hail to the Thief/King of Limbs/A Moon-Shaped Pool. Take yer pick. One or two tracks on each still show that when Radiohead are good, they're very good. But overall they sound too content to noodle about at the foot of the mountain to bother with scaling the heights.

Really? I thought Rewind The Film was absolutely dreadful. I'm sure they'd like to be good at soft ballads but they're simply not.

Yeah I agree. Also didn't like 'This Is My Truth' and 'Know Your Enemy' much. Alternatively I don't mind 'Lifeblood' which is generally considered their weakest album.

David Bowie - Diamond Dogs (shallow, trashy and pretentious with a horrible production). I can't comment on his 'lost period' soul-boy and lounge-lizard albums because I've never wanted to hear them.

Joni Mitchell - Song To A Seagull and Clouds. I listened to these recently expecting to like them, but her screechy and wilfully quirky vocals soon put me off. Everything else was far better.

For me, with Bruce Springsteen it's probably Human Touch and Lucky Town. Can't remember when I last played either of them.

U2 - Pop

Wow, really - I LOVE this album!! Prefer most of her others obviously but Try This is by far her worse offering

I think Nirvana are the only band I have all the albums of ( I don't count some compliations and release after Kurts death)

Westlife - Allow Us To Be Frank. I am quite open about the fact that I adore Westlife, and have since I was about 12 years old. I have seen them multiple times on tour, I think Shane Filan has the most beautiful, note-perfect voice, I think Mark Feehily has an incredibly powerful voice, I think their early songs in particular (and their original songs) were brilliant catchy pop songs, and they bring me many happy memories when I listen to them. But Allow Us To Be Frank? No, Westlife, no. Get out.

Oasis - Be Here Now just does nothing for me. I have it, and there's a couple of songs I like, but nah.

Tori Amos - 'The Beekeeper'

Although her previous album, 'Scarlets Walk', introduced a laid back, concept style to her work, at least all the songs were good to great and the theme about America post 9/11 made perfect sense.

But I'll never forget the day I heard the schmaltzy piano intro to 'Sleeps with Butterflies' as the lead single and thought this is MOR, saccharine and a waste of her sheer talent. Other tracks such as 'Ribbons Undone' and 'Jamaica Inn' were also too flowery. I genuinely can't find a great song there although being Tori there are a few good ones (title track, 'Toast', 'Sweet the Sting'). The artwork and gardens concept were shitty as well. She wouldn't get much better until 'Nights of Hunters' several years later. And even then she'll never reclaim her 90s glory.

Interesting re Kate Bush '50 words for snow' - I never bought it as I found 'Aerial' a bit bland. Looks like I'm not missing out.

PJ Harvey - I'm tempted to say 'Stories of the City' although for a worst album it's still mighty fine.

Yeah I do like it really but I just much preferred Halcyon.

For me it would have to be Duran Duran's Medazzaland and Pop Trash. Both were when John Taylor left the band (although he did play on a couple of tracks on Medazzaland) and they didn't seem to know where they wanted the band to go, they also had no record label.

Although me saying that both are bad albums, 2 of my favourite Duran tracks come from them - Electric Barbarella from Medazzaland, and Hallucinating Elvis from Pop Trash!

In utero is so raw and emotional that it, for me, lifts it above nevermind, which is arguably the better record, better songs and production, but in utero just scratched me to my core and that's what art is all about. Bleach is very much a band finding it's feet but still effing brilliant, I have good memories of me and my friends getting totally bonced listening to that
