Favourite Sing Off Performances
Apologies if there's already a thread but I thought I'd start a thread based on people's favourite Sing OIff performances.
Of course, the performance people always think of when X Factor Sing Off is mentioned is Ruth Lorenzo's Purple Rain: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pgSERGi6jBw&= Sadly I can't find a video on Youtube which has video and good audio for some reason! Actually I've also quite enjoyed a few of the swansongs from the joke acts. Wagner's Unforgettable was one of his strongest performances and summed up exactly what he was: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R1_ghNrMu80&= Rylan's Wires was one of his strongest performance and the hug between him and Gary was a nice moment as he bowed out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9WQBu17EBoA&= And Stevi's This Is The Moment also hit the right note, with him certainly having a musical vibe about him: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZoIksfgu96A&= Kingsland Road's Try is always one I remember and I can't help feeling that they had the potential to go further: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vBGOKlm0SRM&= They're not necessarily the best vocal performances all the time but they have something about them for me. So which are your favourite Sing Off performances? |

Rachel Adedeji - Stop Crying Your Heart Out, tbh all her sing-off performances
Jade Ellis - White Flag Miss Dynamix - Don't You Worry Child Luke Friend - Run Carolynne Poole - There You'll Be Misha B - Who You Are And of course Ruth's Purple Rain and Knocking On Heaven's Door The irony here is that most of these acts were sent home after the performances in question, shows how tokenistic the sing off is |

It always amazed me how some (not many granted
) had brilliant sing off performances but were always let down by the weekly themes.Am I right in guessing the contestants choose their sing off songs, or are they also picked for them? Agree with the above though about Ruth Lorenzo. Her version of Purple Rain in one of my favourite performances from the entire history of the show, yet alone sing offs. |

Oh I forgot - Daniel Evans's performance of To Where You Are. Though the backstory helped there:

Jade's White Flag was fantastic and she really, really deserved to stay after that. 2012 was the absolute pinnacle of judge's votes being influenced by anything other than the actual Sing Off performance.
Perhaps the most poignant, however, was Rachel's Stop Crying Your Heart Out. She'd been warned by Simon that if she landed in the Bottom Two for a third time he'd vote against her, so she knows she's doomed before she opens her mouth. However, she turns in one of the best SO performances of all time, evicorating Lloyd's embarrassingly feeble effort, and leaves on an almighty high. If she'd have taken part in any other year than 2009, she'd have sailed home. TPTB just didn't want another big voice so soon after Alexandra. |

Luke Friend, Rachel Adedeji and Jade Ellis were all fantastic. All should have made the finals in my opinion (I think Luke did didn't he)? Luke's was particularly great as Tamera was the chosen one that year and it was just assumed that she would stay and you could tell the judges knew they had to save her. Once Luke performed though you could see they knew there was no way they could keep her. Sharon ripped up the rule book and took it to deadlock which I don't think was supposed to happen.

Sophie Habibis' Shelter>>>>
The fact Misha B took her and all my other favourites out after decent sing offs, when she was bottom each time was infuriating. |

4th Impact - And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going
I absolutely loved this one and I hate that they were in the position in the first place, I think deadlock was the right decision after the sing-off. Janet Devlin - Chasing Cars This is one of the most frustrating eliminations in X Factor history for me, out went the reasoning "you've been in the sing-off 2 or 3 times now" (this being Misha's THIRD sing-off) and in came "you messed up during the live show so you should go", I'm sorry but what's the point of the sing-off then? It should be based on the performance they've just given. Lauren Murray - Vision of Love Loved this, as I mentioned above, I'd rather 4th Impact stayed but Lauren was amazing and deadlock was fair. Lauren Platt - I Know Where I've Been I hated to see her in the sing-off but she absolutely obliterated Stereo Kicks and the fact that it went to deadlock was a disgrace, especially after their abysmal performance where they just seemed like they'd given up and Lauren had just sang her heart out. Lucie Jones - One Moment in Time I think this is the elimination to reference anyone for the worst result of X Factor. No matter whether or not you're a fan of Lucie or not, she could at least sing and there was no competition between her and Jedward and she should have sailed through with this performance. Luke Friend - Run I'm so glad he stayed after singing this, he really deserved it. Ruth Lorenzo - Purple Rain Does this need an explanation? |

So which are your favourite Sing Off performances? Kingsland Road's Try. Luke Friend's Run. Abi's Lego House. Sam C's Iris. And Miss Dynamix Don't You Worry Child. Ironically with series 10 the sing-offs were better than the live shows alot of the time.

I couldn't remember Jade so watched it back on YouTube and I agree, she did a fantastic version of White Flag. I noticed it was Union J in the bottom 2 alongside her. 2012 will always be one of the worst series of X Factor - all the best singers went out in the first 5/6 weeks leaving a rather worrying final 5 consisting of Rylan ('cos he was a brilliant singer, wasn't he?), Union J (because the British public needed Instant One Direction - just add water), Christopher (because he was too fabulous to sing karaoke at his local, he demanded a TV audience) and Jahmene (because who doesn't love the sweet sound of a wounded puppy yelping its way through a ballad for ten weeks in a row?).
![]() 2012 was ridiculous. James Arthur was the saving grace of that final 5. I still don't understand why the producers tried to make Tamera a thing. She was such a tragic mess of a contestant. She epitomised the whole "tonight Matthew, I'm gonna be.....BEYONCE!!!". Tamera also came across as false trying to mask her spoilt little girl attitude problem. Luke wasn't my cup of tea but i'm glad he did better in the long run. I don't care what anyone else thinks - the final 2 in 2013 were by far the best two singers that series. |

Both Ruth's SO performances were unbelievable. I felt like Laura White was the chosen one that series and she went to the bottom I expected her to be saved but Ruth knocked her out of the park. There was no way she could've been sent home that night and the show's credibility not be called into question.
Jade's White Flag was also really good and she should've stayed |

Paul akister's sing off was possibly the best performance of that particular series and was still criminally sent home

I've always thought Paije's Stop was one of the most underrated SO's ever.
It was brilliant and he completely destroyed Cher. |
