New pic of The Saturdays together
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/CsAhzT4WIAEjJXz.jpg:small
They were together again for a friend's wedding. This is the first group shot for almost 2 years now. I wonder if they will ever make more music again? Their greatest hits is such a fantastic record so severely underrated. |

I find turning the sound off during the video helps...... |

You do know there is a The Saturdays appreciation thread in the sub forum? This really should have gone there.

I am a fan of this girl-group, so would love to hear new music from them. Three out of Five members have their own family now though, so can't see anymore music from them again as a group

I'm pretty sure the girls see each other regularly anyway. I think it was Mollie who said they are all genuinely good friends. Music wise, if they come back they need a bona fide hit or that would be it for them.

Little Mix have the monopoly on the uk girl group market...they need a rival group.
Back in the day it was Spice Girls/All Saints, Girls Aloud/Sugababes, Girls Aloud/The Saturdays and now we have none

Success aside I think The Saturdays have a much more enjoyable singles discography than Girls Aloud though.
Girls Aloud's singles discography has alot of really bad cover versions. Their final single was really woeful aswell. |

Honestly I don't think The Saturdays will be releasing any new music anytime soon or at all. I think they may have quietly split not unless they're planning a Girls Aloud style reunion for their 10th anniversary but then their last release was a Greatest Hits album and I don't see it doing that well. |

I love The Saturdays and find them a very underrated group. They had some really great singles, good simple pop songs like Up, If This Is Love and Just Can't Get Enough, and some good ballads, like Issues and Missing You. I think Forever Is Over is brilliant. I'll never really understand why they weren't as massive as the Sugababes or Girls Aloud, and it's not as though the market wasn't demanding groups, as Little Mix released their debut only a couple of years after The Sats and became massive.

I think to be fair, the girl group shine was wearing off by that point. I think, for the most part boy and girl groups alternate their successful periods. Through the early Sugababes/Girls Aloud run, there was only really Blue doing well with the teen audience. Westlife had already began their maturing/cover band stage but Sugababes and Girls Aloud. By the time the Saturdays came around, Sugababes were on the way out and Girls Aloud split up about a year after. By that time, JLS, The Wanted and later One Direction were hoovering up the teenage fanbase rapidly. At a similar time, Wonderland, Stooshe, Parade and another group (with the girl from an X Factor group that I can't remember the name of, did a song called Echo) all pretty much bombed.
Little Mix came through in 2012 but didn't really find great success until Black Magic last year when JLS and The Wanted had gone and One Direction were on the way out. My theory is that it's all cyclical anyway. |

Their singles discography has 4 cover versions. Their quality is questionable (although I like them all personally) but to say they have a lot isn't really true.
Jump I'll Stand By You See the Day I Think We're Alone Now Walk this Way (with Sugababes) Even Life Got Cold is basically Wonderwall by Oasis with different lyrics. |

I know they released just over 20 in total but still it taints it for me. Each to their own. The Saturdays only released one cover which was also crap but pretty much everything else was fantastic to me. |

For what it's worth, I actually really liked The Saturdays singles (with the exception of If This Is Love, Just Can't Get Enough and the last two they did) I just preferred Girls Aloud's.
I absolutely hate the single mix of Untouchable aswell it takes away everything that is powerful about the 7 minute album version. |

Girls Aloud and The Saturdays were never really rivals. They were signed to the same label and the media never pitted them against each other. Also, The Saturdays never came close to the commercial success or critical acclaim that Girls Aloud enjoyed.

The Saturdays never had the bonus of 'The Journey' from a reality TV though. They released a first single, without anyone knowing them, unlike Girls Aloud. Girls Aloud had a reality TV advantage.
