There is no comparison for me with Girls Aloud and The Saturdays, Girls Aloud easily win for me and are by far the bigger band of the two.
I dont like or dislike the Saturdays but for me i have found them to be one of those bands who made it but never really made it as i dont think they will be remembered as a girlband (outside the core fans) in years to come. They have released some great songs, issues and up to name but a few but they lacked that something that most famous girlbands had. |

I really like the Saturdays and they have come cracking tunes. If you haven't heard their songs for a while you forget how good BUT they quickly become repetitive,
I think the Saturdays downfall was the constant maternity leave. It was great as a girl band that they could make it work but it felt towards the end that they were a four piece with one of them always being away. They had every right to start families of course but it didn't give them consistency. Vanessa's vocals declined as Rochelle's improved. Una could be hit or miss vocally and Mollie and Frankie....... seemed nice! |

If Girls Aloud had released Some Kind of Miracle instead of Jump (I reaally love the Pointer Sisters original), Models instead of Long Hot Summer, Girl Overboard as a single period and cut out all those other covers especially I'll Stand by You (how dare they attempt that song) they would have had a much better singles discography for me
I absolutely hate the single mix of Untouchable aswell it takes away everything that is powerful about the 7 minute album version. The album version is amazing and Nicola sounded fantastic. The single version...... oh dear I cant listen to the song tho without visualising Torvill and Dean skating round them like a demented pair of nutters. |

The problem that The Saturdays had right from the start was most people only knew Frankie and Rochelle so probably expecting something similar to S Club Juniors where those two were very strong plus having members already planing families didn't help much (I remember seeing them live once whilst Frankie was on maternity leave and the other 4 were just lost on stage without her)

They have some great singles, their albums as a whole was always a little disappointing imo. I also felt like they weren't that strong live. I like that they seemed genuinely close though, they were likable. I think the maternity leave was the biggest problem though.
