I've heard a lot of people touting Ivy Grace Paredes so I've watched a few of her You Tube offerings this morning and here are my thoughts for what they are worth!
Great voice - absolutely, got the X factor most definitely not!! More of a BGT act than XF. She is the epitomy of why this show is struggling, XF keep finding fabulous singers with little creativity or chart appeal in other words lacking the X factor.
Surely this year they have got to find a current artist someone who is relevant not just a great singer but a great performer too, an artist capable of great chart success over a prolonged period not just the obligatory X factor single!

When has the show ever been looking for current artists? Never in my view.

I agree to a certain extent and that's one of the things i think has to change for the show to regain some credibility. Maybe I'll change my mind when i see her audition tonight but for now at least I cant see the audience connecting with her and i think putting her through to the lives would be a big mistake. I am quite interested to see this Peyton dude who i believe already has quite a big career in dance music!

Ivy Grace is already doing well, and unfortunately is not a UK artist, which is a shame in my view. Nothing against anyone from overseas, but I want to see UK artists doing well.

Agree totally and I've made no secret of it but I'm rooting for Relley C 100% this year she really deserves this for so many reasons!

Agree with this. If someone like Relley or Gifty won I would be really happy.

I agree with you. IMO, she has an "almost" big voice and an "almost" big range (compared to other singers who perform in this style) , and forces both in order to try to compete with those who are true powerhouses. Range and vocal weight aren't everything, but for someone like her, getting too caught up in it can actually limit someone as a performer, which in her case, based on youtube performances, it has. If only she was as into the songs as she is into trying to be Celine Sie Houston she could be quite memorable. As is, just another nearly exceptional voice tending toward the predictable.IMO.She has excellent, near faultless technique and is skilled, but it is very "pageanty". I expect her to be put through and pushed toward the finals. Given the big dated ballads with maybe "Chandelier" thrown in to keep it "current", or perhaps something "LadyMarmelade-esqu" to give the illusion of "uptempo" she will impress without connecting, thus leaving the winner spot open for a more "relatable" performer.

Maybe she will surprise us.If she does, I will gladly praise her. She has voice to do that. I am not expecting it , though. When it comes to this style of music, give me someone like Gifty at her best ,Analisa, or RelleyC over her any day. All can sing as well, are as vocally gifted, but have the connection ,artistry, or both to go with it.

Agree, the other thing is I for one am sick of the one trick big ballad singers on XF! Week after week on the live shows it becomes mundane and boring! Lets have a few more up tempo performances this year! I'm not 100% sure Sharon will pick her though as traditionally foreign singers don't tend to fair to well and as Ivy's command of English doesn't seem great i think she'll struggle to connect with the audience and Sharon will know this.

Thought she was going to be better than she was, but knew they would put her through.

I am clearly tone deaf because i thought that audition by Ivy was awful! Shouting, timing off and just not that good, But the judges thought she was amazing????? I just thought it was uncomfortable viewing and listening!

There's no control in her vocal, it's like watching Louisa Johnson all over again where someone is battling a song rather than naturally singing a song.

Of that type of singer Anelisa is the much better act imo and I would understand if she makes the lives more than Ivy Paredes so far who's just a typical Diva act that Simon loves.

Agree 100% Anelisa was so much better, made for much more comfortable listening!

The only thing I want from Anelisa really is more interesting song choices.

She'll never be my favourite because I don't really like the Diva acts very much, but she would do alot better not going for the cliched song choices as it's a bit dull nowadays.

She is from the country who adore big belter... in the philippines only belters are the real singers... so maybe that is why she is trying to be a diva to fit in her country's taste of music... but I think once she get a good voice coach she gonna sound even better... like 4th Impact they don't sound trying to be a diva anymore.

In terms of powerhouse vocalists of that sort of style of music, I preferred the Filipino lady from last year, Neneth.

Ivy Grace wasn't very controlled IMO and her timing was off

It is not that well kept a secret that the judges often cannot even hear clearly in some settings. They are told what to say, loosely based script at least, before they even hear a contestant. Sometimes, a singer will even be "given" a song that it is nearly impossible to sing well because it is so unsuitable to them, locks them into a choice of sing a limited basic melody or sound like extreme oversinging,, etc. That is why sometimes you will witness a great performance, then hear the judges inexplicably tell a singer who by some miracle of talent and hard work manages to still deliver a top notch performance with great vocals when expected to crumble that they "seem uncomfortable/that didn't suit you and son choice is everything/you should be in musical theatre/this competition isn't for you".Uually, you'll see this done to either curb a great singer so they won't peak too soon, or to justify eliminating a great singer who clearly shouldn't have been .

I don't know if Ivy's audition was a case of this, but my assessment hasn't changed. She is an almost exceptional singer who shows no fire or creativity or originality in her choices, and while I cannot fault her voice, I much prefer others with equally good voices.

Was she the one doing the Whitney ballad? If so I was totally underwhelmed - Yes, she could sing, but that song was far far far too big for her, and I was shocked that nobody seemed to pick up on that. I know that singing live is different to hearing a record, but even so?!
