Usually when a new producer comes in we start hearing about new characters within a couple of months, I think Bryan Kirkwood signed up Zoe Lucker within a matter of weeks same with Dominic Treadwell Collins and the Carters but there has been nothing coming out of EastEnders this time other than a few axings.

I just watched that parody Pat clip in another topic and I think Debra Stevenson would be great in EastEnders.

Hopefully soon. With so many characters out the door it looks like 2017 is going to be the year of the newbie.

I'm hoping for a completely new family at the very least.

maybe she could be a re-cast Tanya.

I don't want to hear about any castings or new characters for a good few months yet

I hope for a brand new family too. Something similar to the Slaters - who I believe SOC helped create.

This is what in hoping for too. We are loosing Ronnie and Roxy and it's been a while since the show has felt a strong female presence.

I think what the show is missing is some strong women in thier mid twenties and thirties.

I'd like a bold and brash larger than life family of around 5, who are real east end who can spice up the show and take it to the next era with some great back stories.

I feel the likes of Jane, Sharon, Shirley and even Linda too be soul sucking these days.

The show is lacking some real energy right now. I feel the carters has potential but DTC took his eye of the ball.

The issue with the Carters is that they had five years worth of stories in one year, and were exhausted for a long time. With Buster and Lee leaving, and Linda having a temporary departure, they should get a bit of life back

I agree and even though they have been. much much quieter since, a lot of folk still judge them on that first year.

I'd like them to have tina and shirley move in and focus on the relationship between Mick, Tina and Shirley whilst Linda is gone, they could be much quieter without any focused stories for a while and then have Linda come back with a bang

I think we will get a new family. With the amount of characters that are leaving I'm sure we will see a new brood! Who were the last really succesful family? Probably the Masoods. That was years ago. The Cokers, the Kazemi's and the Hubbards are all ok but we need a new family to fill the Mitchell, Branning, Carter gap!

Wasn't there a rumour a few years back that she would be playing Debs Cross? Debs it seems turned out to be Rainie.

Tanya doesn't need to be recasted.

Jo Joyner will probably return at some point anyway.

Isn't the new producer coming from the Archers? He has just had a huge story line there. What else can he come up with I wonder?

I'd settle for any news beyond these endless axings. There is absolutely nothing to look forward to and nothing to entice me to keep watching. The new EP needs to at least give us a hint of good things to come.

Very true. Hopefully they're building up to a big press event with loads of spoilers and indications of SOC's vision for the autumn/winter.
