I have read mumblings on some forums expressing opinions that the Lomaxs have run their course. It can be sad to reflect that they are no longer the family unit they were when Danny & Sam were still around.

Having thought about it a bit more, I think Leela & Peri have more yet to offer than Tegan & Ste. I shall compare their situations here.

It is well-known that I went back to HO for Leela as she is played by Kirsty-Leigh Porter, but I still believe her character has a future. She is about to have another baby, and it will be interesting to follow how this affects her & Peri, including how Peri feels about motherhood to Steph as a result. It is incidentally yet to emerge that Cameron might not be the father.

Peri is becoming more interesting in herself, not just as mother to Steph, but also as we are about to see her character diverge significantly from any accidental similarities with Nico. In particular, on Tuesday we saw her feisty when she felt Jade was picking on Nico then worried herself when she saw through some of Nico's antics at least.

Also, if Courtney brings out the secret of how Cameron saw off Lockie and caused Leela & Peri's temporary home to explode, this will have significant ramifications for them.

Leela & Peri also have an interesting relationship, as Peri spent her formative years persuaded that Leela was her sister not her mum. They are now my favourite mum & daughter in soap.
Spoiler

Tegan's only significance has been having a baby with now dead Fraser - a fact now ignored by Grace, her sudden romance with Ziggy - himself now dead, and being a nurse. Even here we have 2 other nurses, Celine & Kim.

Ste just relapses into feeling sorry for himself and overdosing. He never maintains relationships for long.

Although next month will be the (3rd) anniversary of when we met Leela, Tegan & Peri, I hope that at most only Tegan leaves. Ste is a longer-term character and I don't know when his current contract is up.

doesn't Leela know about the explosion?

I liked Tegan till the whole baby nonsense, she has hardly been seen on screen since Ziggy died.

I think Ste has new purpose now the kids and Amy are back. I would like them to stop giving him drug storylines and focus on him getting back on track. maybe take over the tugboat when Cameron inevitably goes

I use to love Ste, but his sls have gotten stale and the over exposure of his character is annoying. I think the character needs a break from our screen, nothing permanent.

I'm not a fan of the Lomaxes, for me they have run their course and should leave. Peri is a bully, Tegan doesn't do much but get drunk. Leela bores me, she's so oblivious to everything despite knowing Cameron's capable of murder

Leela and Tegan are two of my favourite characters, I think they've still got a lot of life in them yet.

Leela heard Lockie say that Cameron caused it. She didn't know what to believe at first but has evidently given Cameron the benefit of the doubt.

We may yet see an improvement for Ste now that Amy is back. It was reported that she might have a stronger way of helping him see sense than any of his sisters or Tony.

Lisa would probably neglect the tugboat on her own!

I think Peri's bullying is behind her, although she is only slowly escaping Nico's influence. She said to Jade words to the effect of "We were awful to you and I'm sorry", suggesting that she is sorry but Nico is not. Like you say, Tegan doesn't do much and while yes, Leela is oblivious to Cameron's true antics I don't find her boring.

Thank you for commenting in detail though.

Their sister act is good. Although they have sometimes fallen out, usually over Ziggy, they have ended up making up again.

I don't specifically dislike Tegan, although I did over Ziggy until Leela forgave him. To some extent, I created this thread as a detailed response to people who think the Lomaxs have run their course.

You're welcome
I think once Cameron's involvement in Ziggy and Lockie's death comes out it might help Leela's character. I don't like her r/ship with Cameron, personally I don't think it does anything positive for her character.

BIB: After watching some of the POV sls and seeing Duncan James' character react with the others (quite flirty with the males) do you not think in the future they will have his character and Ste get together

It will be hard for Leela to come to terms with but it could provide her with some much-needed independence of spirit as it were. For years she seems to have alternated between Ziggy or Cameron, depending on who had upset her the least recently.

Peri has now evidently joined Leela in forgiving Cameron for killing Danny & Sam. Even Tegan ignores it but only to help Leela & Peri.

You might already know it's Hollyoaks.

It was good that Peri said last week she was sorry about how she & Nico had treated Jade. Whilst supporting Nico, it would have been better mannered of Peri to ask Jade to leave Nico alone to get over the shock of her grandad's death rather than back off.

I admit to having found out something a bit disappointing this afternoon.

I don't watch Hollyoaks. I'm guessing one of the show runners is a massive classic Doctor Who fan.

The Doctor Who connection is that their parents were avid Doctor Who fans and decieded on Doctor Who themed names for their children. Admittedly there was a plot twist in which Peri turned out not to be their daughter but grand-daughter, Peri actually being Leela's daughter.
