Fanta reformulated
I notice Fanta has been reformulated. Not quite sure when it happened as I'm not in the habit of checking the labels.
Juice content of Fanta has reduced from 5% to 4% Fanta Zero is down to 3% juice. Meanwhile over in Italy it's something like 12% juice! Anyone noticed a difference in taste? Is this to meet the new sugar tax regulations do you think? |

Fanta is nothing like it used to be. I remember years before lemon Fanta ever came out over here, whenever I would go on holiday to Spain with my family when I was younger we would drink it non stop and it was amazing. Couldn't wait for it to be released over here but it didn't taste the same. Not long after it's release over here they then changed the taste yet again. You need to go abroad and drink the proper stuff.

I've often noticed a difference in the taste of branded fizzy drinks in different countries. Apparently it's because Coca Cola or whoever ship the syrup abroad and the local factories add the carbonated water. They mostly use tap water, thus the slight difference in taste.

I'd only ever tried the lemon Fanta once, never saw any more since, but the orange one is okay.

I avoid "Fanta" and "Orangina". They both taste revolting.

I had a Lemon and Honey Fanta in Japan which was delicious, but unlikely to ever make it's way over here.

The only time I drink Fanta is in Spain, Fanta lemon in the sun is so nice. It doesn't taste the same here, it's much more sweeter

Orange Fanta in the UK has consistently had less percentage orange juice content than elsewhere and it has always annoyed me. Typically, the UK gets a poorer quality product.
If you decant a can of UK Fanta into a clear glass and compare it with a US or say Spanish one, it's immediately apparent that they are entirely different drinks. The UK version is insipid and watery in comparison. They also changed the formula some years ago and since then I have always felt that it had an overpowering taste or artificial sweetener about it. I hadn't noticed it had been messed about with again but if there is even less orange juice it can only be for the worse.

Well I stand to be corrected but last time I had Fanta Orange in the US the orange content was something like 9% so much higher than here in the UK. It's also the case that a US standard can is 355ml whereas the UK/European can is 330ml.

Carbonated Water, High Fructose Corn Syrup, Citric Acid, Sodium Benzoate (To Protect Taste), Natural Flavors, Modified Food Starch, Sodium Polyphosphates, Glycerol Ester Of Rosin, Yellow 6, Red 40. That's from Coca-Cola's website. |
