You might do if it was really, really desirable and I really, really wanted it.
Love forgot the golden rule: if it ain't broke, don't fix it. They were motivated by greed only and it has spectacularly back fired on them. A lesson for all indies.

I still wouldn't increase the price by 400% but I would seek to negotiate with you as I'm not a greedy person,I would assume you had limited funds (like most of us)

You never answer questions put to you do you?

Would you sell me something of yours at half the value you put on it?
Neither do you.

It's not selling though is it, it's more of a lease or rental agreement.
You love a pointless, completely unrelated analogy, so how would you feel if your rent was quadrupled on your home? FIne? No Problem?

And you haven't answered which item on the Channel 4 remit which I posted covers outbidding another broadcaster for an already successful existing programme.

The new BBC programme should be called "Going with the Dough" (I assume someone else has suggested that but I'm not reading back over 50 pages of argumentative nonsense)
Argumentative nonsense Mike? We are simply talking about the fallout from the biggest disaster in tv land since...well ever.

...a tool used by the land lord knowing full well it was un-affordable but using it all the same any way to 'get you out'. It certainly isn't fair, but more than that, it isn't good business practice.

I'd certainly be able to understand it if it were the most popular home in the area and had people queuing up to get it.

That is the answer. You just didn't like it.

The price shot up because of its popularity and thus the demand for it.

How would I feel about it? Philosophical.

Love aren't a public service, they are a business mate.

It's not a case of liking or not liking. I asked how you'd feel ? would it be fine? Would it be no problem?

you said you'd understand and then introduced a bunch of other imaginary scenarios not in the original questions.

I find it wholly unbelievable that if your rent went up 400% you'd say "that's perfectly understandable"

Have you been enjoying this series by the way?

If my rent went up by 400% I would have to consider why. If such a thing happened it would be likely that there was extreme demand for that particular property. As such I'd have to vacate and find something else. That would be the parting of ways between me and the landlord. But I wouldn't cry about it. I get it, he can get more for his property and it's now out of my price range.

Lovely. Not so hard to answer eh?
As has happened with the BBC.
They aren't crying about it either.
Certainly not now it appears, to continue the previous analogy, the new tenant has discovered there is only one remaining wall of the property left.

What's your favourite bake?

To continue the analogy some more. There's a full refurb coming, so don't panic.

The BBC are masters/experts at succession planning, managing change/transition. Think News and Current Affairs content...and Strictly as you mention. Viewers can't take to much/frequent change because it is unsettling. Slow and gradual change is fine so long as it is well managed and infrequent.

The Beeb could easily 'manage' Mary's retirement as they have past form. Gradually reduce her role whilst gradually introducing a competent replacement.

BGT and TXF are examples where change has been managed badly. Strictly and The Apprectice are examples where change has been managed brilliantly.
Just look at BBC Breakfast.
Has 2 or 3 times the ratings of ITV competitor, despite having main presenter poached a couple of years back.
It has had presenter poached, moved to Salford, presenters retire.
The team presenting now are not the same (apart from Charlie Steyt) as the presenters who did the London based show.
Yet ratings have stayed solid.

The ITV version has had revamp after revamp, new shows new presenting teams new sets, and all have failed dismally.

The Public likes stability.

I'm afraid I can't rely on your predictive gifts as so far they have failed abysmally.
As this little gem shows:

You think Channel 4 just handed them £75m without knowing what was going to happen regarding the presenters? Don't worry, this will have all been sorted some time back.

I forgot Louise - but I was I was only considering the "main" presenters, not sport or weather, but they have not changed much either.

Love couldn't agree a renewed fee for rights with the BBC, even though they had been in talks for a year.
They could have agreed 200% more. They wanted 400% more.

Louise, Mike and Carol all presented in London as did Sally Nugent (sport)

They could yeah but as the BBC wouldn't match the figure they actually wanted no agreement could be reached, which is what eggchen said.
