The format changed / developed,
If Love went to court on copyright on the format they would say. The BBC has copied our format with a Cookery competition hosted by Mary Sue and Mel with innuendos. |

Neighbours changed for the worse when it left the BBC.
Neither BBC nor C5 has or had any input into what goes on in Neighbours. If it changed for the worse (and I'm far from sure that I agree with that) it had absolutely nothing to do with the change of channels on which it was shown.

I care about the actual definition of format, not the one made up by people with an agenda to push.

Editorially, it has had a negative impact too. I saw an ep recently which featured umpteen union jacks in various places. I couldn't understand why. It turns out that it was part of a competition. Not good. Furthermore, I don't like Ch5. It is a cheapy channel. Essentially, Neighbours feels like an entirely different show on Five. |

Yes like drawing teeth, you do not get it, even when you see facts.
Changing the " key talent" 3/4 of them changes the format, no Mary changes the format, no Mel and Sue changes the format, ( unless you get two people to pretend to be Mel and Sue and get Mel and Sue to write the script. Product placement changes the format. Quite considerably. I can't see why you ignore those facts. Michael Grade feels the format will be changed. I'd beg to differ, a change of presenter and/or judge does not necessarily change the format of the show, it may look or feel different, but that's it. |

Oh, I'm just expressing what most people will say. You and Paul are essentially saying nothing changes with the move to 4. We all know that that is not true. I've explained why on numerous occasions yet you still come back to argue. I assume you either work for 4 or Love Productions? Your defence of the indefensible draws me to these conclusions.
Oh dear. The classic "you must work for X" line. Always a sign that someone isn't worth engaging with any more. |

We're not saying nothing changes. We're (or rather he is) saying the format won't change. Which is entirely possible.

Channel 5 are the largest funders of Neighbours. They most certainty do have input into Neighbours. More people watch it here than in Australia.

Oh I am very clear on what a format is. You can attempt to defend 4, Love Productions, Bake Off on 4 all you like. Our views won't be changed. We will vote with our remotes and teach Love and 4 a lesson. You don't take a BBC programme away from BBC viewers (on grounds of greed) and expect us to be happy about it. Not a chance.

You are wasting your time, all you get back is the Love/CH4 PR.
"I don't agree with you, therefore you work for the company I'm attacking". It's the forum equivalent of "yea, but your mother". |

So the format has been changed on shows like SCD, The Voice, BGT, all have had different presenters and judges.
I'd beg to differ, a change of presenter and/or judge does not necessarily change the format of the show, it may look or feel different, but that's it. This is Len's last year so I can see there being very few other changes in the next series - so the current Pro's will be kept on as much as possible IMHO. Everything is tiny steps - you don't notice the changes. Losing 1 x judge and both presenters is not "tiny changes". This is X-Factor type wholesale changes - and look how that is doing ratings-wise. |

In which the programme itself will still finish within the 60 mins, with the rest taken up by ads.

The BBC is very careful with Strictly.

The Voice had two new presenters and two new judges, again, a big change, but the format stayed the same. GBBO will have one new judge and two new presenters, providing they keep the 12 bakers in a tent doing three challenges with two judges and two presenters the format will be kept intact. |

No, I just don't see the point in responding to something so absurd.

Regardless of the format, Paul Hollywood is undoubtedly being consulted and/or informed of goings-on.
Unless you have inside knowledge, you cannot know this for sure. It's just an assumption on your part.Even though I don't accept that he is likely to be consulted I accept that he might be informed (by Love or C4) as to developments. It's 50/50 as to whether this information will be purely of a PR nature designed to calm nerves (not literally of course), and PH is simply a convenient conduit whom the public are more likely to believe. |

It is quite funny. This is a programme moving from the BBC to Channel 4. One can't help but wonder about the reaction on here had it been the other way and people were criticising the BBC. |

I think we should take a well earned break from this thread and revisit in 2018 when there really is something to debate, how long, how many breaks, how many product placements, who are the presenters, has the chemistry changed, are the contestants as good as previous episodes. So many points to discuss but of course we can't discuss what has changed until we know what Love Productions and CH4 bring us somewhere around 2018 maybe even 2019 by that time I'm not sure I'll be around.

I resurrected the thread yesterday because it gave a hint as to what the plans were from one of the main participants who, regardless of what anyone tries to say, will be "in the loop". But unfortunately the usual straw man arguments about adverts, running time and product placement were wheeled-out. It's actually quite sad that people are simply writing the show off before even giving it a chance. They've made up their mind up that no matter Love and Channel 4 do, it will be ruined. |
