I think the Steve as a student storyline was basically a plot device to introduce the awful Andrea into the show. It's a shame it got dropped because at least it was something a bit different for a character to be doing, instead of the usual affairs and who's the daddy tedium we get served up.

Sir Kenneth 'Street Bore' Barlow has the monopoly on culture and education with Roy coming a close second. Any form of culture or education undertaken by anyone else is derided by the moronic element on Corrie.

Craig's grafitti brings us back to Sophie. Whatever happened to Maddie's graffiti tribute? Does Sophie even give a toss? It would have been nice to at least have had an end result/closure after the council tried to remove it and it would have stopped Sophie obsessing about lesbians and looking for her next victim for at least a week or two!

Maria gets in the car and Sophie states that it is a needle in a haystack and they should give up as Caz might not even be in Manchester. Maria says she doesn't think she'll have gone far and Sophie replies that it is her wishful thinking. On Maria's reprachful look, she replies that it was a joke. She then repeats they should call it a day and Maria replies "just one more place".

Caz then walks round the corner, towards the shelter and Maria gets out to greet her. Sophie follows after a few seconds.

Cas does indeed say "what is she doing here" in quite a horrible way, but given their history, including walking in on Sophie taking the piss out her snogging Maria only hours earlier, perhaps unsurprising. Sophie responds "charming" rather than expressing any actual concern.

She then stands in the background rolling her eyes.

Next scene, as they arrive back on the street - Sophie asks Maria is she will "be all right now" - implying is it safe too leave her alone with Caz. Caz picks up on this and asks "what does that mean". She then sarcastically says "thanks" to Sophie for looking for her and Maria reproaches her for it. Kate and Aidan turn up, have a go at Caz and Sophie makes it clear that she only looked for her for Maria's sake.

I'd say Caz and Sophie were fairly evenly matched re being nasty and sarcastic to each other in those exchanges.

Difference is, Caz is presented as a psycho, Sophie is presented as a kind hearted girl of faith.

So, Sophie's faults are always going to seem more jaRring. Because she is meant to be the 'goodie' in this.”

The thing that gets me about Sophie and her relationship with Caz / Kate is what exact horrendous thing has Caz done in Sophie or Kate's eye for that matter. Ok she lied about being kicked out of the army I believe but her wanting to hang around Kate and her paranoia about Sophie trying to get with Kate actually had some justification. However that is another area where only Saint Sophie and Saint Kate are in the right and Caz is just a manipulative monster

Also Sophie is supposed to be a christian and what jars regarding her again and again is how blatantly unchristian she is. She doesn't have a forgiving kind or generous bone in her body. In fact her whole modus operandi seems to be about getting a new girl friend by hook or by crook and to hell with the consequences.
