I guess Sylvie is leaving soon then?

I would've been the first to want Sonia to be axed as i've always found the character boring and irritating.

But something strange has happened recently, I've really started to warm to her.

It's nice to have a character with a 'proper' job outside of the square, and Sonia is one of the very few left not affected by sensationalism.

The Carters should be looking after Sylvie, not Sonia. Tina should be gone. She's pointless and annoying.

It's strange that Mick has room for Babe but not his own mother/gran.
What happened to the place Sylvie and Babe were sharing when they first came into the show?”

It is possible if the Carer dedicates their entire life to it (ie they don't have a job aside from that) and they have help in the form of friends or relatives visiting so they can take a break to recharge their own batteries.

My Granddad did it with my Grandmother (Vascular DemeNtia) for 3 years until her death. My Godfather did it with my GodMother (Alzheimers) for 7 years until her death. But they were both retired so had the time and we're physically and mentally strong themselves so had the ability. They also had the love and want to keep their wives with them, and the intelligence and sense to know how hard it would be.

They did also accept help, both from family members (we went over every Saturday and a couple of evenings when My Gran was sick, GrandDad would go out with Dad, my Brother and i for a break whilst my Mum stayed with her) and professionals.

If they got a proper rota sorted out, they could cope. There are enough of them after all. But the fact is that none of them, except Tina and maybe Lee a little bit, actually want Sylvie around at all and it is a fantasy with Tina. She likes the idea of caring for her Mum, she thinks it is what she should do, she likes the odd times Sylvie is good company, but she can't handle the practicalities. So she pushes it all onto Sonia.

I'm amazed Sonia has coped this long - it is impossible for anybody to do alone with a full time job, let alone one as pressured as Nursing. For Tina to have been "grabbed for a drink" after her shift when she knew Sonia had been alone with her all day when she was meant to be sleeping before going back to work is probably the most selfish thing i have ever seen in a Soap.

Yep, they've managed to make me feel sorry for Sonia!

I just read that DS article about Sonia's exit and I'm shocked that the Carter's seem to think Sonia should be caring for Sylvia! they are probably even more selfish than the Mitchell's which says something

It's probably recognition that Sonia has training as a nurse and also an admission that Tina's about as useful as a wet tissue.

axing Sonia who is a long term character is a risk, I personally would but she has a lot of history on the show.

It looks like Sonia and Tina will break up next week.

Tina in last night's EE: "Spaghetti hoops! I haven't had those since I was a child!"

So yesterday then?

And then sobbing to Linda. No doubt the Carters will see Sonia as a cow and have a sudden case of amnesia when it comes to who's been looking after their delinquent granny these past few months.

They do indeed.

“However, things take an awkward turn when Sonia hears Tina and the Carters talking about her.

With the Carters less than impressed with the prospect of looking after Sylvie full time, Shirley has a word or two to say to Sonia regarding her 'behaviour' towards Tina. But the Carters' attitude towards her only serves to make Sonia's decision easier.”

Thick as shit Mick and the rest of the Addams family will show their true colours.

Whilst I get bringing Sylvie back was to facilitate Sonia's exit, it seems a stupid way of writing it, she was in a care home that specialised in people with her condition, yet she got chucked out for arguing with everyone in there. And why are they not even bothering to look for a care home that will take her?

The Carters should be ashamed, is it the usual thing of her being put just far away enough so they don't have to worry about her. I can't speak for other families, but in that situation I think my family would work out some sort of care plan, still using that house, but planning some sort of schedule so it's not always left to Tina to care for her, which then gets passed onto Sonia, and then a few times onto Bex.

Tina is a useless waste of space and the Carters are a bunch of fakes who preach about being the perfect family but are all self absorbed and irritating. I hope Sonia gives them all a piece of her mind before she leaves.

I'm grateful for Tina in many ways. I've always liked Sonia even though the writing for her hasn't been great in recent years. I think the fact the Carters have treated her like shit has helped viewers to like her again.

Hopefully when she comes back from her break SOC has some decent things planned for her. Wasn't he one of the top storyliners during her surprise birth story? Plus as a long termer I think Sonia needs to stay for continuity..
