For those with Netflix, the UK transmission of OUAT Season 6 will commence on Monday 26th September, and will be shown weekly on Mondays, not Wednesdays as with previous seasons.

I love OUAT, but thought most of the finale of the last season was terrible. That said i do love evil regina, so i have high hopes for the season

You and me both, I've still not watched the Season Five finale episodes.

I used to adore the show but couldn't endure past about episode 14 last time

Do folk think I need to endure the finale to watch the final series, as I'd like to see the story wrap up. Could there be something (plot points, characters) that are key to the ending or that I really need to know about, or can I just shrug my shoulders and try to watch again, and accept whoever's changed sides once again and whatnot? (I gave up being able to follow along and really caring a long time ago )

Try the OUAT Wikia site - I think they have a season synopsis there that will get you up to speed.

The ongoing Season 5 storyline was more or less wrapped up a few episodes early. The final two episodes were more a prologue of things to come - introducing new characters, setting up new things etc.

This season really should be the last. I really struggled to finish the last season and I am not sure whether I will bother to watch this series

They seem to get characters and then just leave them and move on. I mean are the Camelot knights still sitting in the woods waiting for Arthur? Will anyone tell them he is dead? Its going to be crowded with the merry men and them in those small woods.

Does anyone know what Mr. Gold's first name is? I don't even recall his dad (Pan) ever calling him by his first-name.

As for season six....I have little anticipation for it (I actually forgot about the show until I saw this thread). But I'll admit seeing Mr Hyde wreck some s*** up is interesting, though they're going to have to get creative to explain why he doesn't wipe them all out in one go.

Thanks also, so I should just watch the last two eps of series 5?

I thought it was absolutely confirmed to be the last (?), otherwise I wouldn't even think twice about bothering!

I guess if you really don't care much for the stories going on in Season 5 you can just get away with only watching the final two. There might be few gaps in the plot but you'll be able to just presume a 'Season 5 thing' happened if you don't want to watch them that much. The last two though basically set up the whole premise of what's coming up now, so watching them should have you covered for the biggest plot points.

Personal opinion there were a couple of really decent episodes near to the end of Season 5. But then the actual resolution to the whole Underworld story was the most convoluted and frustrating thing I think I've watched all year. In fact I seldom get angry at watching a fictional television show, but I was angry that the decent actors were made to work with it, and that someone got paid for scripting what was scripted, and that a show I love at its best was also capable of something so terrible. As resolutions go, it was incredibly poorly handled - full of plot conveniences and tactless character moments that jar massively. Hook might have a legion of fans out there but he's gradually become perhaps the most annoying fictional character in any show I watch regularly.

Rant over

Nope,

Been a couple of articles speculating that it will be the final season but that's all.

Oh ffs! Wishful thinking on my part I guess, probably mixed up with Orphan Black too (which ironically killed off some great characters very quickly and could have been extended with no loss of quality imo - the exact opposite of OUAT).

I loved this show but just want to have an ending now Even if they'd kept up the quality for me there's only so much switching of sides by most of the characters and rewriting rules and backstory one show can cope with, and that reached its limit in season 4.

I guess I'll have to wait a lot longer and see where this series went

That's me out then

If they killed off a few of the main characters then I might be interested. Number one on my list is Hook. Kill him off so that we don't have to endure another season dominated by Emma and Hook being separated then being reunited then being separated then being reunited then being separated.......

I actually thought for a few minutes that they had made a really bold move near the end of Season 5 - I really thought just for a second they'd made a bold move and were going to kill off Hook. I should've known better really, but at any rate the way they brought him back was just insulting - in the middle of Robin's funeral, and with the most useless Zeus cameo to explain it. The show steadily crept up it's own rear end with Season 5, forgetting how much decent source material it has to work with and obsessing about dark ones and daggers and interpretations of the underworld.

As someone who really did enjoy the show up until Season 5 it's astonishing how quickly one season sent it off the rails a bit. I maintain hope that Season 6 manages a bit of a course correction, but I'm not getting those hopes up.

Preach! I absolutely loved him at first, the villainous, 'had no cares what people thought of him' pirate but with enough of a smidgen of heart left that he wasn't totally redeemable.

Then Captain Swan happened and it all went to crap.

This 100 per cent. The obsession with Hook and Emma is becoming seriously boring, and other characters (including some excellent actors) are reduced to walk-on scenes or crumbs of dialogue/storyline all to pander to the great 'Captain Swan' romance...

There has been mention of a death of a significant character mid-season (February.) We can only keep our fingers crossed it is Hook....

Interesting opener. Certainly a different pace compared to previous seasons but obviously that'll be because of the season long story arc rather than the two seperate parts.

There's some confusion as to whether it's supposed to be Monday's or Wednesday's - my guess is still on Wednesday's as it used to be.

Some sources are saying it has shifted to Mondays, but as it didn't arrive yesterday, I checked out the Netflix news site.

The latest statement is that the Premiere will be on Wednesday, but after that the show will be uploaded for UK subscribers on Mondays, about 24 hours after the US transmission (which would put it into the early hours of Tuesday....)

Hope this helps.

I just read recaps now and many US posters complain about the going round in circles plots. Captain Swan and Hook were dreadful mistakes and just pandering fans. I heard the commentary on the finale dvd of season 2 where the head writer praised Colin. This was where it all went wrong. He was great as the swashbuckling pirate. I still remember the shock when he punched Belle in the tower. He knifed his own father. So many villainous acts yet they want the audience to believe in this couple.

The ratings for the premiere were on a par with the spring ratings so I suspect they will slip. Some recap sites aren't even going to bother regular recaps anymore so this show is rapidly losing interest for viewers. Some suggest it was only given a 6th season because ABC needs time to develop new shows. I honestly can't see this having a season 7.
