I doubt it, simply because she will be concerned about how Peri and to a lesser extent Leela would feel. But yes, I can see why she would feel tempted.

James/JP stuff was fantastico and the Jade related scenes were fab. Glad Mercy is back!

I am once again looking forward to future episodes. Long may this continue.

We could have had Mercy walk in on Joe & Joanne together rather than their secret withheld so far.

Actually, I've suddenly thought of what would make life simpler for Joe & Joanne.

We therefore depend on Joe not getting attracted to Nico, who was a bit stabby with Trevor.

It was probably too quick for Joe's own good, and deliberate soap coincidence happening just as Mercy was due to return from jail.

Really liked this episode. James is becoming one of the best characters they've ever had. I have not watched my recorded episodes every night for many many many months. And now I'm watching them the same night. Says a lot. I am also distraught for jade.

The Nightingale Sons are very interesting both carry their story lines well

Mercy's back ”

Yes, I was surprised - and pleased - to see this too. A refreshing change from the typical HO's character acting the eternal, powerless victim.

It was also good to see James spilling the beans on Marnie being the one to trash the wedding, instead of keeping quiet and taking the blame for it.

What's happened to the HOs writers? Someone must have given them a new set of crayons, they're ripping up the rule book and going crazy!!

Oh god, yes please - Marnie is on a par with for being the most atrociously acted, ridiculous character. Each performance has enough ham to keep a bacon factory in production until the next millenium. I wish she would just disappear

Her reaction was a bit over the top, wasn't it? Super-fruitcake alert!!! How is Joe not seeing it?

Morticia's reaction to James saying it was her was interesting, like he always took the blame, how dare he not this once, Mac looked a bit shocked, but still wanted to hurt James, why does he hate his Son so much?

I hope Mac is banished and she runs off after him, and James looks after his brothers and sister

I'm so annoyed they are taking Mac in such a dark direction. Really like David Easter the actor who plays him
Surely his days are now numbered on the show.

This change of character just came out of nowhere. He seemed mild mannered when they first moved there but we're suddenly supposed to believe he's been a violent thug all this time?

This better not turn into another long winded storyline like patrick/ Maxine.

I'm assuming that with James' character showing a vulnerable side, we might also see more layers to Marnie who could evolve into softer character. Surely this revelation about Mac is a formula to write him out of the show, down the line.

Mac said to James: I told her to choose between me and you and she chose me.
Also, James said it was her who smashed decorations and sie blatantly denied and looked surprised he actually said it instead taking blame again.

Strange title to today's episode: "James's drunken behaviour ruins family lunch" Yes, of course. Why he turned up in the first place? Why he didn't cover for Marnie's actions and lies? And revealed to Neeta her ex-fiance got over her in one night? Sad, very sad.

About Mac being on his way out of show: not necessarily at all. Remember Patrick, he stayed long after his abuse to Maxine has been shown. Ste use to abuse Amy years ago, he's still here.

Marnie did choose Mac over James & let him take the blame for the smashed decorations, but that still didn't mean to me that she knew of James abuse at that time. Also James did tell JP she never knew about it!!

Having said all that, with James set to report it, Marnie will know soon & then we'll see for sure which side she takes & unfortunately it will probably be Mac's!!

In many abuse cases, the mother does know, but chooses to turn a blind eye to it (because they don't want to break up the family, or because they are afraid of their husband, or like in Marnie's case because they are hopelessly obsessed with their husband).

James will of course think that Marnie didn't know. The alternative would be way to painful to process. In cases like these the mind goes automatically in denial mode as a form of self-protection.

I don't think it will be sexual abuse. A bit too soon after the McQueen stuff.

I think it will be physical and psychological. I know he said he wasn't hit, but I thought he was just talking about the Father's Day incident.
