Same. Adorable little Pearl needs a stable daddy, and it would be a shame to break the family up. I'd develop Vincent, I think he's still got heaps of potential as a businessman.

To be a fly on the wall in the EP's office when they get called in for the axe

A shame because I find Claudette very entertaining. But the character was finished as soon as they had her kill Fatboy, and the reveal that she bumped off her husband only did further damage.

Now she's shacked up with the man who covered up her "death". The character is a joke.

Doesn't she come and go anyway. Isn't this just another break as the actress can actually get work outside the show.

Good. One murderous criminal down, half a dozen or so to go.

The Fatboy / Mother's Day mess ensured the character would be forever tarnished. She showed glimpses of being a great character, I like her with Les and Pam but they turned her into a murdering psychopath and you can't come back from that. *Coughs Ronnie*

We need some returns and newbies now. You can't just axe half the cast. Robinson would have but he had to keep the Di Marcos. I suspect SOC would axe more but he'll have to wait and see how his newbies fit in. We are due a press day!

Perhaps they should name the show 'Austerity-enders'?

So Ellen has landed a lead role in play at Theatre Royal Stratford East. Fun fact - was scrolling down the credits and Angela Wynter who played Yolande Trueman on EE is in it too So two of Patrick's loves on stage at the same time lol.

If the Hubbards are kept on by SOC, Claudette will probably be back for one-off appearances. Ellen Thomas is one of those actresses who's been on TV for years and doesn't have trouble finding work. Even while she was on EE for this stint, she had a recurring role in the first series of Humans. Plus this year she went off to film Mount Pleasant and was in a movie called Golden Years.

With all these departures, I'm certain we'll hear news about new characters and/or a fresh family very soon. There's definitely enough space now. The Masood house is going empty so I assume that might be the place where a family gets introduced.

Could Martin and Stacey move in to Masoods house? Getting very crowded in the flat now with Bex soon moving in.

Actually the actress has been in the show three times as three different characters.

Omg! Noooo!

I heard she was leaving yesterday but I thought it was just for a panto break and she'd be back!

These new producers are so thick! They're so an animalistic in their approach and think they have to come in and basically "kill" what's already there in order to make things their own!

The idiots keep and will always keep people like Ian and Sharon who are both rubbish frankly and are respectively unlikeable and pointless but just because they've been in it from the start they can't/shouldn't be axed. How pathetic!

I really liked Claudette and felt she could have stuck around and been developed for a few more years definitely.

There was an Irish soap from before my time that called all the cast in for a meeting, filmed it and then told them the show was being axed. They aired the footage of the announcement on the evening news complete with cast members crying and so on.

The new producer clearly isn't too keen on DTC's choice of characters as the bulk of those being axed were made regulars under his reign. I like Ellen Thomas and I think Claudette could've been utilised better but as many have pointed out, they wrote her into a corner with all the murder stuff.

Do we know if Ellen was even axed? People use the word "axed" on this forum in anyway they can. I think people like the word and think "i'll use it because i can". Very silly.

What a shame. Seems he's having a clear out straight away. Always seems to be the most recent additions unconnected to a long-running family.

Such easy and thoughtless decisions. I'd much prefer him to at least try and find a story for these characters. It's laziness with a touch of arrogance. He better come back with a hell of a family to replace all these departees.

Disappointed. Claudette was a very complex character, strong, had both a dark side and vulnerabilities. They could have god rid of her after a year, having gave her a really good storyline. Or toned her down and simply had her as Patrick's lover, and overbearing family woman. When the actress wanted to leave they had a plethora of possibilities.

Instead, she is axed. pointless Mitchells and Brannings remain.
