iOS 10 Thoughts
I've read online that some people have had problems installing iOS 10 (thankfully mine worked ok) but for those who have had no problems, what are people's thoughts on it? I've got an iPad 4 so some of the features that it comes with don't work on mine, the same with iOS 9 (one of the main things being no Night Shift mode) but I have no issues with that as I'll probably get a more up to date iPad in the next year or so as the iPad 4 is now the oldest that iOS 10 supports. I wonder why they skipped straight to version 10.0.1 (was there a problem with just plain iOS 10 (I'm not in the beta programme so don't know) The thing I like best about the new version is being able to remove (or are they just hidden?) default applications although I'd like to have seen Safari included with that as I still ever so often getting web pages crash in it for no apparent reason. Yes I know I can use another browser but it still means putting Safari into a folder of unwanted apps which just looks a bit messy in my opinion. I am happy that I've been able to seemingly get rid off Apple Maps which however hard they try will in my opinion never be as good as Google Maps.

The update was a nightmare frankly. Thankfully iTunes rescued me from a bricked iPad Pro. I was not amused for the hour and a bit it took to download and apply the update. I have been cured of my urge to update immediately forever.
![]() Apple want the pro to be a laptop replacement, but I needed a laptop to get me out of the mess....not good enough. Rant over. I'll play with IOS 10 and let you know if it's any good. By the way, I suspect 10.0.1 is a rapid update from 10 to cure the problem I had. |

I had no problems at all updating my iPad and iPhone.
It's a big update but I'm not sure if many people will find the new features without some help. Just watched a video of tips on YouTube which has helped me a lot. Theres some great features added to iMessage and I like the split screen web browsing. |

I not overly keen.
It's snappier, but now I have to physically press the home button every time to unlock my device instead of casually swiping my thumb over it. I'll never use the widgets screen, the new sound effects are very Android-style with the space key sound being distracting and the animations don't seem as graceful as before. Loving the new swipe up screen and notifications are clearer. Siri doesn't seem any different and the acknowledgement sound still hasn't returned. The Home app will never be used. Glad I now have the option to delete it though. |

After reading that some pepole have been having problems instilling it I'm now in no rush to put iOS 10 on my iPhone 5s or IPad Mini 4.

Apparently the issues with updating have been fixed now. I've done my iPhone and iPad. Still looking into all the changes so I'll give my opinion then.
I've done my Apple TV and just waiting for my Apple Watch to finish updating. MacBook I will do on the 20th. |

Apart from the first attempt bricking my iPhone 6S, I love it. It definitely feels a lot faster and smoother than iOS 9. So far so good. Battery life seems marginally better too.

My only issue with iOS 10 is that they have removed the ability to group notifications by app

I really like the news app now. Much better having subjects grouped imho.
Maps seems as useless as ever though. |

Is anyone having issues with Google and Bing on Safari on iOS 10?
When I search for something, it won't let me click on any search results. Open link in a new tab doesn't work either. I've tried clearing the history and disabling JavaScript as suggested online. Links within websites work fine. Even more bizarrely, this only happens on wifi. Tried a few different networks. Switch to cellular data and it's fine. Oh it's a 6S I'm using too. A mate is having a similar issue too. Definitely wifi related. |

I just tried both Google and Bing on my iPad mini 2 with iOS 10 and they work fine. Are you using an ad blocker? Have you tried turning it off?

I keep getting 'Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost', only on certain websites though. If I turn off WiFi and use my cellular network Safari works just fine?
Same websites work fine on 5S, iPad 2, 3 and air 2 running 9.3.5 as well as mac book pro and pc's etc. I just re-installed 9.3.5 on my iPhone 6 and safari works just fine on WiFi again! Trouble is I can't restore my backup to 9.3.5 so had to put 10.0.1 back on and bang... 'Safari cannot open the page because the network connection was lost' when using WiFi is back!

did have a quick look but not 100% sure how to!
Open Settings from the home screen. Scroll down and tap on General. Tap on Accessibility. Scroll down and tap on Home Button. Enable Rest Finger to Open. |
