It was a drunken one night stand with a (dying) alcoholic repulsive man....why is she even considering of keeping the baby? No regard for the baby but only what she wants for herself. Crazy, stupid, and selfish.

Isn't 4 months to late to abort?

Why is it selfish, stupid and crazy? Why can't she keep the baby? Millions of single women manage to raise kids on their own.

Denise needs to have the baby and announce it as Mitchell for her character to become worthwhile and have a purpose.

Which means she has a bit of time left to abort. I wish she would but it doesn't look like that's happening.

24 weeks may be the limit but most drs don't recommend you do it after 20 weeks and it wouldnt be very nice to go through.

I think everyone has a choice if she thought abortion was right fair enough but it didnt seem to cross her mind before she knew how far gone she was.

She has raised two kids alone so why a drunken one night stand being the reason to abort would enter her mind I don't know.

The fact of having another child with a murderer for a pareny maybe

Who says that she won't? She makes a decision about the pregnancy next week. Who knows what she will do?

Some women are just not comfortable with killing their unborn child. Phil may be the father but the child is hers as much as Chelsea and Libby are. It's not as if their fathers were great role models and they turned out fine.

Chelsea didn't. Didn't she rob the Minutemart with Dean and end up in jail? I wouldn't call that 'turning out fine'.

Many teens go off the rails for a bit. She's fine now. The point is that she didn't turn out like her murdering father.

Women who are not believers in abortion, are not going to suddenly change their mind. She did not want Libby to have one, so I doubt if she will get one herself. She has been a good mother, & I look forward to seeing more of her on screen.

You should never rush into an abortion unless you are 100% sure that it is what you what. I imagine it would cause a lot of trauma in the long run if you regretted having one.

I agree.

Denise has just found out that's she's pregnant so she is probably still processing it.

No, twenty weeks is the legal limit except in extenuating circumstances. Also bear in mind that 20 weeks by date actually only means 18 weeks gestation, so Denise is still in time as long as she doesn't hang about.

Many people have grave misgivings about abortion for all sorts of reasons and Denise is deeply conflicted. It's quite true that many accidental pregnancies with single mothers result in a wonderful child-mother relationship but quite honestly Denise could do without all that, she has two lovely grown up kids already and no relationship at all with the father.

I know what I'd do in her position but I'm not her.

It's a good storyline and I'm wondering what shows up on the scan or test results, which shock her. I can have a guess but could be wrong. So much drama ahead.

Where did you read that Denise has a shock at the scan, please?

Because having an abortion would seem hypocritical after the way Denise carried on at Libby when she got rid of her baby.

Besides it's not the baby's fault his or her parents were drunk at the time of conception!

The legal limit is 24 weeks and in exceptional circumstances (usually that going full time will put the Mothers life at risk), it can be performed later.

Generally speaking, most women that just decide they don't want a baby for lifestyle or financial reasons will do it earlier.

Generally it is only if something shows up on the 20 weeks scan (which is actually called the Abnormality scan) indicating a serious problem with the baby's health that termination iis performed after that point. And as SoapLea says, it is not a pleasant experience physically, let alone the emotional side of it.

Denise's reaction to Libby's abortion, and the fact that she had both Chelsea and Libby when her circumstances were fair from ideal re the father's character and also, her being very young in Chelseas's case, I would imagine that she is Pro Life or at least, it isn't something she feels is right for her.

This is a really stupid post IMO, even though Phil is a mess, Denise still has a family around here that can help her and Phil isn't exactly a monster. He is a so called gangster who is living off a reputation he had years ago. Why would she think "Oh, the dad is an alcoholic, lets abort". That would be stupid.

Rather than do what we all do by mistake on here from time to time and that's to start another thread when there's already an active one around, I just wanted to add my two pennyworth and say that there is no way on earth that Denise should consider keeping the baby.

It was unplanned, it's not wanted, she's in her late forties, does she really want to shackle herself with all the baby palaver, childhood trappings and subsequent teenage tantrums and angst that are the prerequisite of parenthood? By the time it goes to university (don't make me laugh) she'll be retired!

Denise will keep the baby because secretly she's always wanted to screech "Call yerself a Mitchell!"
