This isn't a rant but at the moment EastEnders is at a bit of a low. Its not awful or complete rubbish. Its just boring theirs nothing that gets you off your seat and go wow.
Sonia Tina I don't think many people have much interest. I like Phil but my god actually do something its just so dull. Same with Jane and Ian. At the moment nothing is happening its just so boring.

It's in a transition phase. It will soon (hopefully) pick up.

I remember the transition between Harwood and Santer in late 06/early 07 being absolutely dreadful. Then it suddenly got much better almost overnight.

Fingers crossed it will get better towards the autumn.

I'd like to think this is only a temporary hitch to facilitate Sonia's exit. Her storyline with Tina is Lorraine Newman levels of boring.

It's possibly the most boring it's ever been. Even Grant's return and all that rubbish with Ben being kidnapped was boring. Carmel needs to be axed. Appalling waste of screentime sucking the life out of the show. Denizzzzzzzzzzzzzze is terminally dull. Philth should just hurry up and die. Jane is so sanctimonious I'm praying for Bobby to return and finish the job. All Sharon does is ask people if they need anything in the shop. The Carterzzzzzz continue to irritate and bore in equal measure.

The legacy of DTC.

It's been like that for months. The last time I enjoyed EE was when Stacey had her breakdown.

The Beale's are boring, the Mitchell's haven't had anything new to offer for years. We've had Kathy's affair, a couple of pregnancies, a teen love triangle, darts, salsa...you name it, it's been rubbish. And was last year any better.

Can someone PM me when it's better, I've currently stopped watching it.

I've just glanced at the spoilers for the remainder of this week and next week, and it's safe to say I won't be watching. Filler central.

"Denise turns to Carmel for a heart to heart" is Thursday's episode. Frankly I would rather sit outside and watch the grass grow.

I read that Alex Lamb and Sharon Batten have been acting as joint producers since DTC left so I think that explains a lot of stuff. It was said SOC's work has now solely started to come through so changes should start to be felt soon

Yesterday was amazingly boring again.
Why does boring Sonia's exit have to be spread over all the duff duffs?
Tomorrow it will end with her telling Dot, Friday with her phoning Bianca.

Linda's dartsclub, the less the better.

Sympathy gathering Jane, I want her to get a gruesome cold ending by Max.

Carmel and her lovelife-who cares.
You have to laugh btw when you hear those Nokia ringtones still blurring out in Albert Square, which decade are they still in, same with everyone applying for jobs with a paper under the arm

I hope it will pick up soon.

And most of them with button phones too, even "so called" younger trendy people. Totally ludicrous.

The duff duffs have been odd this week and hopefully it's not a trend. It feels like it's a pause rather than a big dramatic moment which duff duffs are supposed to be.

Why are they making such a big deal out of Sonia's exit? It is only temporary yet the writers are making it out to be a permanent exit with all this build up.

Linda going on and on about the bloody darts competition made me lose the will to live

I haven't seen last nights as I was out at a function, but judging by the reactions on here it looks as if I am not missing anything.

Aside from the good episodes last week, though last Tuesday was like a bad comedy - a bunch of pussies running from a 50 year old guy with a baseball bat, it has been boring. You may get the odd decent episode, and even someone like myself who is easily impressed is grudgingly watching it.

My Mum who is a Day 1 fan and viewer of the show is thinking the show has dried up, and it is lacking direction. I am hoping this is a transition period, but we are now in mid-September and there is no indication of any exciting autumn storylines, and Christmas. It just seems to be dull fodder.

Yesterday's duff duff was one of the lamest I could remember.

Yes, as others have pointed out then it may be in a transitional phase for the time being but whatever the case it's back in the trough for now, with the Sonia/Tina split going on plus the tedious duo of Denise and Carmel featuring in most scenes this week, it has been truly mind numbing and lacking any spark whatsoever!

Even last week with the potential aggro concerning the freeing of Ben and Jay from the homophobes was played out in no time at all and with absolutely no consequence or tension, while there was no spark whatsoever re Mark's nullified response to the revelation of Grant being his Dad! At least we were spared Paul's funeral being played out to excess. Things can (hopefully....) only get better and let's hope the show picks back up later in the Autumn re Max's return and so on!The past week or so has been pure filler.

I also haven't noticed who the EP is of late - I take it that it's still DTC's material playing out before Sean O'Connor takes over? For now though it's as bad again now as it was for most of Kirkwood's and Newman's time in charge!

They should do a radicalisation storyline. That'd be interesting. I thought that was going to happen to Nancy, though they wrote her out before it even got going.

We would never be that lucky .

It wouldn't surprise me at all if the incompetent producers thought she was iconic. Everyone I know who watches EE hates her.

It feels like Newman because nothing significant is happening. It's largely second-rate characters and filler storylines that have no consequences, which mirrors Newman's entire run on the show. However, like 2012-13, I think this is a deliberate attempt by TPTB to not 'rock the boat' and do anything too drastic while the show is in this transition phase.

Sean O'Connor took over in June so it's too soon for his work to be on screen. But by the end of the year we should have an idea of his vision for the show.

EE has not been consistently good for 25 years
