Bit of a random thread yeah but who do you like better out of Coro's 2 main families, the Platts or the Barlows?

I'm saying the Platts. Cos Kylie was a Platt (probably the main reason I liked them so much) They get bigger and better storylines than the Barlows, they have a better house and they are better actors. I don't like them as much as I did without Kylie tho

Out of the Barlows I only like Ken and Peter the only Barlow that can actually act is Peter and I kinda find them boring without Peter

Barlows for me, i love Peter and Tracy.

Barlows here too. They have much more history than the Tilsley/Platts. Martin wasn't much of a character. I detest David, Sarah Lou annoys me. Gail and Nick are fine. The only other family members are kids, so irrelevant.
Peter and Tracy Barlow are both horrible. Sadly we'll never have Deirdre or Blanche (not really a Barlow) back. Maybe Elaine, when she's finished exploring Japan, will come back regretting turning down Ken

As a very long-term viewer I've gone through phases where I've enjoyed one more than the other, but voted Platt cos I'm loving their dynamics right now. However, Peter Barlow is on of my favourite characters ever, so his return is points to Team Barlow I'm my book.

The Barlow/Platt scenario is very similar to the Beale/Mitchell one over in EastEnders in a lot of ways. One is an original and occasionally gets a big storyline every now and then, while other family who arrived later is clearly the more popular family and is never off our screens as a result of their popularity.

Hands down the Platts, they are far more entertaining and have a more exciting dynamic than the Barlows

That's a hard one because without the Barlows you would not have the Platts.

Ignoring that fact it is a very close call for me but I think the Platts edge it as I have liked them since their Tilsley/Roberts days. Alf, Audrey, Gail, Brian, Nick #1 & #3, the current Sarah, the current David, Kylie, Bethany, Max, Leanne and Tina. Loved them all to varying degrees. In fact the only one I truly didn't like was Ivy.

As to the Barlows, Deirdre was great, Peter, Leanne (she gets everyehere) and I don't mind Ken.

Seeing as two of my favourite characters in Coronation Street are Sarah and Bethany I picked the Platt family.

At the mo the Barlows only consist of Sir Kenneth who-knoweth-everything Barlow - an old fart and complete bore who lives in a house straight out of 60s Corrie probably as a tribute to old man Tatlock, evil, mwa ha ha ha ha ha villaness Tracy and her mini-me daughter.

The Platts are way more entertaining.

As long as the dreadful, one dimensional, irritant murderess Tracy & her objectionable brat of a daughter are on the Street the Barlows are sadly tainted meat for me!!

Looking forward to Peter's return & will be interesting to see what Ms Oates has in store for him, Adam & Daniel but until we are finally rid of Tracy they will never be a favourite family for me!! Without her Amy may just be salvagable!!

The Platts are the better family but have been ruined through overuse and making Gail an idiot.

The Platt's for me. Gail is a fantastic character (annoying at times but then she is meant to be!) and I feel like there are more varying and interesting spokes in that family than the Barlows. Tracy is so overdone and overused, and Peter is repetitive. We'll see how the new additions change things but either way it'll be a long stretch before I can see the Barlow's being as interesting as the Platts.

These are my two favourite Corrie families. I chose the Platts because i currently like them best but that could easily change for me on who's in the storylines.

Platt's by far. After all this time still a fascinating family. Barlow's are tired, although I hope the influx of them this autumn livens them up.

I was going to vote for the Platts but now that you've pointed out there's an idiot involved in the mix I don't want to be associated with them. I have to vote for the Barlow's because of their higher education and loftiness of Kens character.

I dread to think what both shows would be like without these families. Especially these days!

Honestly I wouldn't care if both Tracy and Ken were axed (not that it'll ever happen.) Tracy is a poisonous, pathetic bitch and Ken is just a sanctimonious dog on heat. I can't see any likability about either of them.

Platts all the way. They are the main reason I watch the show.
