No contest.
Spice Girls were five iffy girls with poor voices. Girls Aloud are five sexy girls with good voices who make good pop music. |

Spice Girls.
GA seem like a carbon copy for todays pre-teeners. Funny, they have such a young fan base yet walk around with everything and anything hanging out. Gives out the wrong message. |

as fond as i am of the v sexy girls in girls aloud- they dont really rate as a package like the spice girls did!
they were EVERYWHERE for like 2/3 years. when GA break america, have more number ones than u can shake a stick at, star in their own movie, get name checked in many tv shows n films, sell out a huge world tour, appear on chocolate bars, crisps, pepsi, lollipops etc... then we can discuss again! lol as u may guess i vote SPICE GIRLS! |

^^^^^I rate GA according to what I see and hear and not according to how popular they are here or anywhere else. The Sun is the most popular newspaper but I would never consider reading it in preference to the DT or Times.
I have both the GA CDs and they are full of good pop music. I also like the videos. It never crossed my mind to buy a Spice Girls record, nor any of the mostly awful solo stuff. The SG were just as manufactured a band as GA, except I think GA had far tougher auditions.

I quite like GA and they make decent pop music, but people tend to forget in all the 'they can't be good because they're a girl/boy/manufactured group' bulls**t, that TSG actually made 1 or 2 excelent songs amongst there usual cheery pop stuff.
GA are better singers, but TSG had the better material on the whole. Say you'll be there >***** |

The Spice Girls were lucky. Very good marketing and arriving just at the right time. They were fresh, original and after years of early 90's boybands - a bit of a novelty.
The first album was also a brilliant bit of pop, which helped. Girls Aloud have the hadicap of we have seen it all before with the Spice Girls and to a lesser extent All Saints. I can't really see them making it as big, despite good pop songs, due to lack of a marketing gimmick (ie posh, sporty, etc) |

Fair point, although the charts are not an especially good show of quality music tbh.

I cant really decide.
Spice Girls are the ultimate girl group, in their success anyway but they didnt prove their singing capability (of what there is) in a competition. Girls Aloud are the much sexier group as well although Victoria and Emma were nice in their day, they wont compare to Kimberly Nadine and Cheryl. |

It has to be the Spice Girls they made music fun and didnt worry about their image and what people thought. Girls aloud are all so skinny they are a bad example to children.

I agree though that they didn't go silly about their weight at the time. Although since then victoria and geri have both been down to about 6 stone - utterly ridiculous and skinnier than any of GA Thinking about it, I think Mel C was upto 12 stone at one stage - thats victoria + geri =

No. It was exactly the same for both, but the SG auditions weren't played out on the TV.

Girls Aloud are bunch of whores. They make ok songs, but Louis Walsh is fed up of them already and like Westlife they are just gonna churn out cover version after cover version.
Spice Girls never released a cover version because they had something special. I don't think it mattered what they released their fans were obsessed with them because they were so entertaining. The filler tracks on the second album were pretty poor, but most of the singles the Spice Girl released are classics (if you can say that for a pop act). It's a shame it all fizzled out. Girls Aloud won't last much longer. |

5 girls were signed by some guy, Victoria, Melanie B, Melanie C, Geri and Michelle ? Anyway, the four we know didn't like the way the deal they were in, so they decided to do a moonlight flit. Michelle didn't join them. They went up North for a bit. They came back to London and auditioned Emma then went around all the record companies until they got a deal. So, it's a bit of both really. Somehow I dont think GA would have the determination or Energy to do that. |

They didn't need to. They won a singing contest.
I preffered the SG, but all but Mel C would have struggled to get through the preliminary stages of a Pop Idol, etc. If you don't have the talent in the first place, you're obviously gonna have to work harder to get a band noticed. |

Aren't we just voting on who had the best songs written for them?.....or who was promoted better....or managed better.....or who looks better?
Let's face it, neither of the two sets of girls are particularly talented and had/have just about everything done for them. I'll vote for the Spice Girls for being so successful with so little talent .
