I blame DTC- he never developed Kyle.

The transgender community must feel let down by his.

I'm starting to think he was incredibly arrogant and short sighted.

Apart from Stacey and Martin (and now Steven), I can't really name any character that he has any kind of relationship with - friends, enemies, or love interests. His only storyline was that he existed and was Stacey's secret half-brother.”

Fair point VG

I feel for the actor in this case. he was cast just so dtc could tick a box, sadly for him he was never given any kind of personality or purpose for his character.

they didn't even bother exploring him being trans in depth.

he also isn't that great an actor but I guess in time could have got better.

I wholeheartedly agree with this. If you compare Kyle to Sally in Hollyoaks it speaks volumes of how shoddily eastenders treated the creation of Kyle the character

I'm not really keen on him as a character but I'm surprised he is leaving EastEnders but Stacey will be fine without her brother because she has her husband, her kids and step-daughter.

I hope we get some casting announcements soon and I think the Slaters need more storylines especially Belinda and Stacey. I would like O'Connor to bring in a new man for Belinda.

SOC really is going for a bloodbath.

Still, I don't disagree with any of his decisions yet.

He was only pointless because they didn't do anything with him. They should have explored his backstory much more.

he was though? dtc even said that!

but the point is they didn't give the character anything other than being trans, no personality or anything. he is trans, can cook and is staceys secret brother thats all we know about him.

same as with paul coker, plot device to be gay and have johnnys storylines, again they forgot his personality, they didnt even give him a storyline to do with his diabetes he got nothing.

I think both actors have been treated badly

the new guy really is making his mark!!

gives the feeling all these exits are to make room for a big Slater type family.

I missed this post but agree wholeheartedly. I think killing off Lucy Beale really ranks as the worst decision of the last decade. For the sake of sensationalism we lost the strongest Beale child who was a legacy character to boot.

I think Kyle is an easy example of a charcter who has been introduced and then not used, but he is also an example of a character who can be used, if the new producer really wanted to try. New producers generally get rid of the previous producers characters, unless they have highly succesful, without making any effort at all with them.

I am sure new characters are coming, it just would not hurt for him to announce a couple, or a new family, if that is in the plans.

and has ruined the beales to boot. Mcbeale used to be one of my favourite characters absolute opposite now. that wont change till she is punished

I'd forgotten about Lucy. Yes you're right. We now have Ian with none of his children and they've had to ship in Steven.

I thought Roxy and Ronnie left next year?

Is Lee also definitely leaving before next year?

I know the rest will be gone

These exits are so on point.

If Tina, Shaqil, Donna and Johnny were now to go, I'd genuinely have no problem with any of the cast.

I can see them being axed.

Cheers DJ we can always rely on you for stuff like this

35! and it's not a very good cast either, probably the worst it's been in a long time

He's no great loss. But there's worse around and he's another one who could've been used better.

The episodes where Kyle's mum came to see him and the one where he told Stacey about his background were both really good. They never did anything with him after that.

This is certainly leaving a bitter undercurrent atm.

He literally clearing out what he perceives as deadwood, he tightening ship for sure.

I do feel for the actor more then anything, he was so underdeveloped, he was in a way used to stroke the ego of DTC and his sidekicks and then failed miserably to do anything with him, such a shame, but I do despair that he given the boot when the likes of Shaki, Tina and Babe still remain!

Something will have to give though as the bloodbath of so many characters in such a short period of time, is not a good image for the show.

SOC really going for it

Can't say I disagree with any of his decisions. And Kyle is pointless and does nothing, Not sure what the problem is but they can't seem to develop anyone lately.

I don't think he's over just yet. Few more are surely in danger.

I wonder if the plan is to cut back, add a few but then really use everyone they have left.

Natalie cassidy has had her baby and is still on screen. If kellie goes on maternity in oct it will work out around xmas or if she goes late oct/early nov it should be early next year
